Many boats have wash down hoses, normally the fitting is some garden hose type thread with a pretty brittle hose. On my boat I have a very large wash down pump from #hamiltonmarine. The "ID" of the pump and hose is 1.59". In this video I machine a fitting that will fit the large wash down hose and reduce it to something more manageable above deck, in this case 1". I have never attempted to make a barbed fitting before, and after a ton of struggling and some yelling I figured it out. In the next video I will weld this fitting to a plate which will eventually be fastened to the deck of the boat. They get busy at our yacht club taking sailing lessons in the optimists and helping out scrubbing the deck of one of the lessons boats. In this episode of Empress sailing you'll see us get a special visitor. Oma visits us from Australia and we check out some local sights in Haarlem. A special thankyou to the extremely patient Maarten for volunteering your time to give the girls sailing lessons. It has really boosted their confidence out on the water. Thankyou too to the Vereniging Water Vrienden in Haarlem for organising them.
