This week as we practice "Social Distancing" we get a little. stir crazy inside and just need to get out of the house and into the yard, or the boat, or something. So we do just that. I do a tad bit of work around the house trimming bushes and reward ourselves with a nice little boat ride out in Boca Grande Pass into the Gulf of Mexico. We also went on over to Cabbage Key to take a look around and the Cabbage Key Inn we open for takeout only. I take my hats off to them, they were doing it right. For those that don't know, Cabbage key is an island in Gasparillo sound and no roads get there, so the only way is by boat. Typically you can go to Cabbage Key Inn, Bar and Restaurant, but they had people out on the docks greeting boats to let them know that they were open but would take the order there on the dock and bring the food down to your boat. You were asked to leave after getting you food so there was no gathering. They even covered every other slip and pylon with caution tape so that all boats had to be at least 10-15 feet apart. If you asked to use the restroom, they only allowed 2 people into the actual restaurant at a time to use the restroom. If you wanted to go to the gift shop, which is where they were running the credit cards and taking the cash payments from the people in their boats, they would only let 3 people in at a time from the same party. They really were doing it right. The girls all got cheeseburgers, Deb got Salmon and I ordered boiled cold shrimp. They brought it all out to the boat, along with disposable wipes and we slowly worked our way south on the ICW toward Lower Usepe Island. The girls all ate in the back of the boat while I peeled and ate shrimp while driving. We did a little circumnavigation of Upper and Lower Usepe and then headed back to Boca Grande and up Charlotte Harbor almost to the Peace River. On the way up, we saw some dolphins so I stopped and turned around, put the boat in neutral and coasted while the dolphins, 6-10 of them, played all around the boat. While we were watching them I swatted a little bee buzzing around the boat. (Keep in mind we were a good mile from shore in any direction) and then another one came by and stung the little one on her finger. While Deb tended to her, I went to kill the bee that they stunned and Chasity told me, "There are a bunch of them." Sure enough there were a bunch of them buzzing around the boat. I had everyone take their seat and we high tailed it from that spot. It was the strangest thing I have seen that far from shore. From there we cruised on back home and had a great trip and good day outing. Häng med på ett isdyk i Grönhögens Kalkbrott med OCTOPUS Dykcenter. Se hur dykarna hoppar i, dyker och tar sig upp ur isvaken. Det finns ingen snö på isen vilket skapar en känsla av att dyka under glas. Isen bubblar efter vårt dyk. Detta var Fredriks 100:a dyk, så vi avslutar med att fira! Grattis Fredrik!

OCTOBER 2020 We bought new sails from "de Vries Maritiem" in Lemmer. One of the few sailmakers in the Netherlands that actually makes the sails onsite. They were ready on Leontien's birthday, so we called them her present. After installing and testing them once, we made our own stack packs (lazy bags) and lazy jacks. We only sailed with them twice before the winter weather took over. We noticed some small items that need to be addressed by the sailmaker, but we are confident that it will all be handled properly. MARZO/AGOSTO 2020 A marzo 2020 eravamo in Nuova Zelanda per una breve vacanza in camper quando siamo rimasti bloccati a causa del Covid. L' Australia ha chiuso improvvisamente i confini e noi non siamo potuti rientrare sulla nostra barca Obiwan. Abbiamo atteso 6 mesi l'apertura della bubble tra Australia e Nuova Zelanda. Assieme agli amici Ale e Max di Y2K siamo stati ospiti di Dina e Andries nel loro confortevole Airbnb e poi per due mesi abbiamo occupato la comoda cabina di prua di Y2K. Alla fine siamo dovuti rientrare in Italia per attendere che la situazione covid migliorasse.

Cowpe chats with Ocean about the breadth of use for power catamarans - from their stability to their volume - which is what attracts so many people to Lagoon. Among other topics was the Australian market, with Cowpe discussing the strength of the current market and its strong trajectory in the future. Cowpe was very open about Lagoon's focus on environmental awareness and responsibility, mentioning a list of things the company is doing to lessen its environmental impact.

Ontem nós recebemos a visita do Secretário de Estado da Juventude e Desporto no Centro Internacional de Vela Vilamoura Sailing. O projeto colocou Portugal no epicentro dos grandes eventos internacionais de vela e que traz a Vilamoura centenas de velejadores em todos os invernos. Foram 56 países, 3 000 atletas, mais de 4 000 acompanhantes, perto de 200 000 dormidas. Tudo em 2021/2022. A visita acontece no âmbito das comemorações do Dia Internacional da Juventude que se celebra anualmente no dia 12 de agosto. Em pleno Boat Park da Marina de Vilamoura, João Paulo Correia teve oportunidade de assistir à chegada do mar de velejadores de todo o mundo que nesta altura se preparam para os campeonatos mundiais da classe Laser/Ilca (Ilca 4 e Ilca U21) que começam em Vilamoura, já dia 13 de agosto. Segundo o Secretário de Estado da Juventude e Desporto este é o ano em que Portugal regista o maior número de eventos desportivos internacionais, atingindo as 4 centenas, o que contribui para que o país seja cada vez mais um destino para seleções, clubes e atletas de todo o mundo. Veja um pouco do que aconteceu na visita através da reportagem com a SporTV. ____________________________ Yesterday we received a visit from the Secretary of State for Youth and Sport at the Vilamoura Sailing International Sailing Centre. The project has placed Portugal at the epicenter of major international sailing events and attracts hundreds of sailors to Vilamoura every winter. There were 56 countries, 3,000 athletes, more than 4,000 companions, and close to 200,000 overnight stays. All in 2021/2022. The visit takes place as part of the celebrations of International Youth Day, which is celebrated annually on August 12th.
