Formentera is the number 4 inhabited island of the the Balearic islands (after Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca). It is located 7 kilometers south of Ibiza and is 19 kilometers long. The island is only accessible by boat and is therefore quieter than the other Balearic Islands. Famous writer Jules Verne described the island in his book "Journeys through the Solar System", when he stayed at Formentera in the lighthouse of La Mola. We anchord at Ses Illetes which is one of the most beautiful beaches of Formentera. Because of the narrow part of the island you have a beautiful natural phenomenon on this beach, namely the sea on both sides. Meters of white sand, infinite blue water and views of Ibiza and Es Vedra. All together makes this truly a paradise place! And again, we were the only boat at anchor here. Even in February, we had the idea that we were in an atoll in the Indian Ocean: the turquoise color of the water and the white of the ring-shaped beach around us gave us that feeling. Nach unserem Exkurs IWC geht es jetzt um Kap Hatteras herum nach, mit Spannung erwarteten "Norfolk" in der Hoffnung einen Flugzeugträger der US Marine zu Gesicht zu bekommen. Da uns Wind une Wetter gnädig sind umrunden wir das Kap entspannt und genißen das segeln. Um so erfreulicher ist es das wir dann tatsächlich nicht nur einen sondern mehrere Flugzeugträger dort antreffen. 1000 mal gehört und nun endlich im Hauptquartier der US Navy. Alaska is undoubtedly among the most fascinating regions for sailing and exploring in our planet. The ruggedness of the terrain, the lack of people and boats, the endless amount of bays and anchorages and the amount of wildlife are all second to none. In many places you drop a line with a lure or bait and it will be only minutes before you catch dinner. Volcanoes and glaciers are always present in the scenery, endless valleys and mountains covered in green, much of which is primary pine forests indulge the visitor with magnificent views. Separado, morando sozinho num pequeno barraco, com os filhos morando muito distante (dois no Canadá e a caçula em Paraty) já estava aceitando a vida sedentária. Fazia minhas cainhadas diárias e dançava eventualmente. O restante do tempo era ocupado com leitura, rede social e televisão. Em 2022 fui visitar seus filhos no Canadá e meu filho mais velho tinha comprado um pequeno veleiro para navegar no lago de Montreal. Então, num passeio nessa pequena embarcação, meu filho iniciou um diálogo mais ou menos assim: - Velho! Você já foi um grande aventureiro por que não faz mais uma aventura? - Que aventura, cara! – respondi. - Vir de Veleiro do Brasil até o Canadá. Você precisa sair de casa. Precisa de objetivos de vida. - Você está louco? Nunca naveguei e não tenho dinheiro para comprar um veleiro! – retruquei. - Você não tem uma Previdência Privada? - Sim. Tenho. Mas ela é para quando eu ficar velho. É para minha saúde – respondi. - Mas você já não está velho? (emitiu uma sonora gargalhada). Então você retira esse dinheiro e compra um veleiro. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros. Depois você vende o veleiro e repõe a grana. A sugestão do filho foi como um trauma mental para seu velho pai. A partir desse dia aprender sobre velas tornou-se minha obsessão. Tudo na na minha vida foi relacionado à navegação. Comecei a devorar livros e assistir todo tipo de vídeo no YouTube. No primeiro semestre de 2023 tirei a habilitação da Marinha para navegar em lagos (pré-requisito para as demais). No segundo semestre consegui a carteira de Mestre Amador e, finalmente, em abril de 2024, conseguiu a mais temida e difícil prova aplicada pela Marinha do Brasil: Capitão Amador. O material de estudo para essa prova foi enorme. Vários livros, apostilas, curso grátis no YouTube e sites pagos. Havia dias que o velho pensava que seria impossível passar na prova. Coisas estudadas era rapidamente esquecida pela memória sexagenária. A grana para compra do Veleiro estava resguardada. Era só esperar o momento oportuno. Entretanto, restavam, ainda duas questões muito importantes: arrumar uma companheira de viagem e equacionar os custos da viagem com sua pequena aposentadoria. A conclusão foi que a grana seria insuficiente, principalmente quando as despesas fossem em outra moeda. Para piorar, descobriu que chegando ao Canadá, seria muito difícil voltar no mesmo caminho, tendo em vista que existe uma corrente marítima contrária. O caminho de volta mais fácil teria que ser pela Europa e África. Ou seja, gastar em euros. O visto para entrada em cada ilha ou país corresponderá a um quarto da minha renda, sem contar comida, óleo diesel e manutenção no veleiro tudo em dólar ou Euro. Apesar dos estudos orçamentários indicar a inviabilidade do projeto, no dia 14/10/24 mudei para um veleiro adquirido na cidade de Salvador. O planejamento da viagem estima dois anos de vida ao mar, cujo planejamento pode ser verificado nos dois primeiros vídeos do canal “Veio Doido no Mar” no YouTube. Pretendo navegar pela costa brasileira, passar pelas Ilhas do Caribe, passar pelo Canadá, Europa e África. Em torno de 18 meses viajando.
