While strong winds and cold temperatures descend upon the Chesapeake Bay, I am still testing out my new Dynice Dux rigging. This involves a sail up to Cartegena Creek on the Potomac river and then back to Deltaville, a trip of approximately 90 miles. In preparation for the offshore hop south, I get my satellite subscription started with Predict Wind, and put the new Iridium GO unit through its paces. Finally I have a look at the current weather map and assess possible departure dates for the offshore run south to Florida, via the Bahamas. For the experienced diver only, unfortunately. Big Walls and Drop-Offs at The Canyon dive site, located at Gili Tepekong, Bali is a must visit if you love those deep blue dive sites where it feels anything can sow up out of the blue. This dive starts on the west of the island, close to the platform. With the coral covered slope on your left, head towards the most southern tip of the island. About 7min into the dive, you’ll find the canyon, starting at 15 meters, dropping down to 30m plus. As you descend in the canyon, you start seeing beautiful coral covered rock formations with small schools of sweetlips hiding from the current under small overhangs. There is a lot to explore as you start heading back north, huge boulders, walls, rock formations with nooks and crannies everywhere. All covered in coral.
