It was time to do a Potjie again. Together with a Cobb and a BBQ. With a group of cruisers and live Swedish music. We get the lyrics in Swedish so we can all sing along in Swedish. We visited the annual Porto Santo wine festival in town with our regular group of cruisers. As always there is also live music. We tried some of the wines, but the ponchas are tasting much better. During the Catholic holiday of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, there is a procession of penitents. Walking with rather somber music, They carry a statue of the Virgin Mary to the church up in the mountains. This holiday celebrates the Assumption of the Virgin Mary’s body and soul to Heaven. During the procession there are fireworks exploding. Just a big bang with no flash. Never did learn the purpose or symbolism of this. The procession is a lap that begins and ends at the church. The church bells are ringing as the procession returns. Afterwards there is a big party with live music and drinks. Hope you enjoy! A broken heart and a brand new bowsprit made a great excuse for a boys trip to Peñasco for some good ol' fashion boatyard healing. Our dear friend Peter from SV Kessel (@KesselUnderway ) had a new aluminum bowsprit built and stuffed in his sprinter van along with boat parts, a massive amount of tools, a bench grinder, a giant sander, a drill press, a band saw, plywood, 3 gallons of epoxy, our new fridge, all of our engine spares and just enough room for Chris. With our return to Avocet scheduled a few months later in January, it was a great opportunity to knock some of our own projects out. Plus, I had a sneaking suspicion that some quality “bro” time would do wonders for Chris, despite his initial protests. As usual, the wife was right but we will get to that later. Dans cet épisode tourné dans l'archipel des San Blas (la région autonome des Guna Yala au Panama), l'équipe de Storia Storia⛵️ explore les îles paradisiaques, la vie locale et la riche culture des Indiens Kuna. Solitamente le 12 miglia sono solo una linea sulla carta nautica. Oggi, navigando da solo, sono arrivato fin lì: al limite massimo consentito al mio natante. Ma cosa cambia davvero oltre quella linea? È solo una questione di immatricolazione, dotazioni di sicurezza e burocrazia? Oppure, con la giusta preparazione, anche una barca "normale" può portarti molto lontano? Carol Cronin's been sailing Snipes for almost 20 years. She's crewed for many of the best skippers in the class and she's going to the World's this September as crew for George Szabo. She's a champion in her own right, winning multiple Snipe Women's Nationals. After being the top women's team at the DonQ this March, Carol and Kim Couranz went on to take a commanding victory at the Women's Nationals in Annapolis.
