Pour le premier jour du salon, le JT officiel s’est mis en mode croisière. Il faut dire que l’inauguration du Cannes Yachting Festival a tenu ses promesses. D’abord parce qu’il a fait une chaleur tropicale sur la Croisette. Les exposants et les visiteurs se sont pressés dans les deux ports dédiés, le Vieux Port et le Port Canto. Avec plus de 700 bateaux à visiter, le plus grand salon à flots d’Europe n’a pas failli à sa réputation. Une journée riche en rencontres pour l’équipe vidéo de Skippers magazine et ses partenaires Pantaenius et Nanni. Nous avons d’abord rencontré Sylvie Ernoult, Directrice du salon, qui nous a confié vivre sa treizième et dernière édition avant sa retraite. Elle revient sur les caractéristiques du salon de Cannes. Nous avons également visité le Sun Odyssey 415. Antoine Chancelier, directeur des ventes monde de chez Jeanneau, nous a fait l’amitié d’une interview embarquée. Louis Taurel, notre spécialiste des chevaux-vapeur, a visité le constructeur de powerboat Say. Jono Pank and Isobel Bretherton won the GJW Direct Bloody Mary Pursuit Race, the sixth leg of the Seldén Sailjuice Winter Series, held at Queen Mary Sailing Club on Saturday 10th January 2026. Second place went to Angus Cook and Lucie Hopkins, also sailing a Firefly, while third place was taken by Ian Dobson and his son Ted in their Mirror dinghy. Jono Pank became the first sailor to win the Bloody Mary two years in a row, having taken the trophy last year with his son Freddie. This is a remarkable achievement, considering the number of variables and conditions required for such a result. The winning team from Imperial Poona Yacht Club crossed the line ahead of a 124-boat fleet, featuring sailors representing 42 boat classes from 62 sailing clubs. The race was held in a north-easterly Force 2-3, with the sun making a welcome appearance throughout. Palau was an important site in WWII, and this now-tourist attraction, was a place of struggle between the Japanese and Allied forces. Consequently, there are quite a few Japanese shipwrecks in the inner bays around Koror Island on which you can scuba dive. In the inner lagoon, the visibility is often limited because of not much water flushing over the barrier reefs, and this same condition is probably the reason there is not much coral or marine growth on the wrecks. Still, this adds a dimension of mystery and discovery to the dive. This clip is a compilation of a look at 8 different wrecks around the Koror Island area. There are some that still have “live” depth charges, and interesting artifacts. See what things you can identify after 60+ years of them sitting in a watery grave. Dans la droite ligne des bateaux précédents, le Diam 24 est un monotype mais il est le premier trimaran à être choisi comme bateau du Tour. Dans cette vidéo, je vous emmène en immersion totale sur la zone de carénage, depuis les préparatifs à bord jusqu’à la pose finale sur étais. Vous découvrirez en temps réel comment je prépare les amarres, sécurise le bateau seul, et fais vérifier l’emplacement des sangles par un plongeur — une étape cruciale pour éviter tout dommage, surtout au niveau de la ligne d’arbre ou de l’hélice. Vous verrez aussi les astuces pratiques que j’utilise en solo : laisser l’échelle descendue, positionner les amarres au milieu du bateau, ou encore le choix des chaussures pour éviter les accidents.
