In this episode, we sail north from Noumea to a string of shallow bays. With the southerly winds finally eased, we head through the very tight Canal Lepredour and down to beautiful Ile Tenia . We dive the outer reef wall and have a couple manta rays swim by. Returning to the shallow bay Baie De Deama (barely 1.5m deep) we visit Port Quenghi and have a lovely locally made pizza. Returning back to Noumea we stop at Ile Abu and explore the island and find sand burying starfish and banded sea snakes climbing the cliff face into a cave. Finally after living together in very close confined living space for 8 months, it was time to say goodbye to Emma and Robbie who fly back to Adelaide.

In the process of re-doing the entire bottom of reverie below the waterline, we made some improvements to the raw water intake system. We closed one thru hull and repurposed another and built a new Manifold Raw Water system to provide water to three key systems: Air Conditioner, Anchor Water Pump, and the Marine Head. Of course nothing is as simple as you hope. We had to get creative to prime the system, install check valves we didi not think off, rebuilt the head manual pump so we can prime the system and bring back a Mermaid Air 12K BTU air conditioner unit that has not been run in over 7 years. In the end….. we succeeded!!!! I think you will find some of this information useful on your own projects. We also have a close encounter with a sailboat and a fishing boat in thick fog.. a little to close for our comfort. The wind picks up as we get close to Europes most western point Cabo da Roca before we get a moment of nice and calm sailing as we enter rio Tejo the current gets strong and we have to enter the marina when it's at it's peak. After that we think we deserve a nice dinner at a nearby restaurant. We are a middle aged couple that has left our hectic business lives to go sailing with our boat Fridá af Wisby and our cat Litza. Our goal is not to go to a specific place but to reach a state of mind where we can really enjoy life. The sailing in our home water the Baltic Sea was part of our preparation to sail to the Mediterranean Sea. We sailed to Normandy France in the autumn 2020 and in spring 2021 we continued south along the Atlantic coast of Europe. Anders has been at the sea most of his life and sailed for the Swedish national dingy sailing team as a young man. Gitte has also grown up with boat and spent every summer sailing with her father as a teenager but made a pause of about 15 years without sailing as an adult, had just begun to pick-up the interest before she meet Anders a 4 years ago. Onboard we also have our cat Litza a 3 year old Devon Rex we call her the cattain because cats always decide over their humans. Litza is a Devon Rex cat and she is the real cattain aboard. Fridá af Wisby is a Wauquiez 47 pilot saloon that we Gitte and Anders bought in UK in 2019 and that we have sailed to Gotland and in season 1 2020 we sail in the Baltic Sea.

As we get ready to leave Guadeloupe we take advantage of having the car for an extra day and set out to explore the hidden gems of the Island. It's estimated that there are over 200 waterfalls on Guadeloupe, but not many of them are easily accessible when it's been raining back and fourth the past week. We choose "Cascade de Bis" which is a small waterfall with only a short hike through the rainforest. After spending a week in the mangrove of Baie-Mahult, only taking quick showers to save water, swimming in the waterfall's fresh water was amazing! The abandoned theatre is not very easy to find, byt if you search for "Centre des Arts et de la Culture" you will get right too it 😊 So, if you are at Point-a-Pitre, make sure to make a visit! With the boat filled up, we are now ready to head over to Antigua and Barbuda!
