Mit dem Expressboot fuhren wir danach weiter flussabwärts bis zur Anlagestelle bei Chinatown. Hier hatten wir kein genaues Ziel, sondern das Ziel war in Chinatown zu sein. Andere Schriftzeichen, anderes Essen, andere Verkaufsstände, und und und… In unseren Relax-Tag hatten wir an diesem Tag ein Blinddate eingebaut Aus dem Netz hatten wir erfahren, dass ein Weltreise-Pärchen aus Hamburg "lets-do-this" sich ziemlich zeitgleich mit uns auf den Weg gemacht hatte und nun auch in Bangkok war. Wir zögerten keinen Moment und schrieben sie für ein kurzfristiges Treffen an. Ce jeudi 16 novembre, à 16h 26mn 23s, Erwan Le Roux et Vincent Riou ont franchi la ligne d’arrivée de la 13e édition de la Transat Jacques Vabre en deuxième position de la catégorie Multi50. Le duo aura mis 11 jours 2h 51mn et 23s pour parcourir les 4 350 milles théoriques depuis Le Havre à la vitesse moyenne de 16,33 nœuds, mais il a réellement parcouru 4726 milles à 17,71 nœuds. Son écart au premier Arkema est de 7h 37mn 04s. Avec trois victoires (dont deux consécutives 2013 et 2015) sur la Transat Jacques Vabre, Erwan Le Roux avait toutes les cartes en main pour s’offrir une quatrième victoire en Multi50. Il avait choisi un as de la course au large Vincent Riou pour courir sa 7e Route du Café. Le mano a mano avec Arkema fut des plus passionnants, les deux tandems poussant leurs bolides à 100% de leur potentiel. La Transat Jacques-Vabre, aussi appelée La Route du café est une course transatlantique en double (équipages de deux marins) qui se déroule tous les deux ans depuis 1995. Mais uma reforma no barco, antes mesmo de ir para água. Desta vez estou refazendo a tampa do paiol da bateria. A princípio iria deixar as baterias dentro da embarcação mas, devidos aos vapores tóxicos emitidos pela bateria de chumbo, resolvi deixar do lado de fora mesmo. E para isso tive que fazer uma tampa melhor, para que a água escorra pelas lsterais.

There was so much to see and do on Marble Island that I couldn't fit it all into one video, so here's a follow up. We experienced some bad weather while there so had to duck around to Hunter Island where it was more sheltered. Had a lovely time exploring the rock pools at low tide and reaped the rewards from Sally's amazing garden. Thank you once again Craig and Sally for your wonderful hospitality. We left Havannah Pass, New Caledonia in the late afternoon to time the tide to give us a few extra knots. Wind was against us for a while then eventually came around onto our beam for a good sail. It blew from the north west to the east over the duration of the passage, enabling us to sail all but the final 3 hours to Tanna. We arrived in Port Resolution, Tanna on Saturday and had to wait until the Monday for Customs Clearance. The Customs arrived on the Monday and cleared us and another boat in, gave us an Inter Island Permit which we had to take to Port Vila.The only thing they didn't do was Quarantine which we did in Port Vila two weeks later ( a bit bizarre!) We met the Chief, Werry his wife Monique and brother Stanley who were very friendly and helpful. Our visit up to the volcano was delayed for a few days because of the overcast weather conditions. We also had a few days that we had to sweep the decks of the boat to get rid of the black volcanic ash. The trip up to the volcano is quite expensive (10,000vatu = $130AUS) each but when you consider its the most accessible volcano in the world and compare it to some other attractions around the world its good value. I don't know anywhere else where you would be able to walk around the rim of a live volcano and observe the forces of nature. There are a few rickety handrails in some spots, not many. It was a very windy day and some of the rumbles knocked you back on your feet. We made our ascent at 4pm observing the volcano during the day and experiencing the transition into night with the erupting lava lighting up the night sky. We eventually left at 7pm very happy to have had such a wonderful experience.

After 42 days of travelling the USA, we made it to the delta of the Mississippi which we really look forward to. When we took the tram into the city of New Orleans we ended up in a heavy summer rain which resulted in some hilarious and unforgettable moments. We got soaked but after buying some ponchos and towels we were ready to explore the city. We treated ourself on the famous New Orleans oysters and we tasted alligator for the first time. In the evening we did a beautiful sunset dinner cruise along the Mississippi River on one of the well-known river steamboats. We danced into the night on the never-ending jazzy tunes. Fin juillet 2020, le niveau d'eau au sud de la rivière Richelieu - nord du Lac Champlain est statistiquement bas (94,4 à la station de Rouses Point, NY à 2 miles de notre position). Le retour à la marina devient de plus en plus délicat, car la quille de Fuligule frotte déjà à l'entrée du canal depuis un peu plus d'une couple de semaines. Sur le voilier, les sensations ne sont pas agréables, on a l'impression d'être sur un tracteur labourant de la vase et un petit monticule d'argile sur une trentaine de mètres. De l'extérieure, ça semble être plutôt facile... Sondant fréquemment en pneumatique ou en kayak avec une perche graduée, on observe l'évolution de la baisse du niveau des eaux et on s'interroge sur le point critique à ne pas franchire... on sait également que le fond est mou sur une dizaine de centimètres par endroits. Voici donc ce à quoi ressemble un retour appréhendé à la marina, sachant que le niveau d'eau est moins élevé que le tirant d'eau du bateau... IMPORTANT: les informations de mesures présentées dans cette vidéo ont été recueillies le 31 juillet 2020 au niveau de 94,42pi à la station de Rouses Point, NY. Le voilier a un déplacement de 4500 kg et un tirant d'eau de 1,22 mètres mesuré. Il importe à tout plaisancier d'utiliser les informations présentées comme bon lui semble, en les adaptant aux caractéristiques de son embarcation et au meilleur de ses connaissances.
