Encore un beau week-end passé au Havre. Et même s'il n'y avait pas beaucoup de vent, le soleil était bien présent pour nous faire apprécier ces deux belles journées. Nous sommes très contents d'avoir retrouvé pour une soirée sympa sur les pontons le club de Deauville "Marina Deauville Club". On a vu au loin cet incendie ou plusieurs bateaux ont pris feu sur le port de plaisance au Havre , nous étions bien contents d'être en mer à ce moment-là. J'ai pu tester le nouveau gilet de Décathlon ,le LJ180N un gilet de sauvetage co-conçu avec les sauveteurs en mer. Il est très agréable à porter. Nous sommes aussi surpris et très content de rencontrer des personnes qui regardent nos vidéos Merci

As I posted in an earlier video, I have been slowly developing my 12ft Kiwi dinghy. It's getting there now, all I have to do is sail it better. So I'm hoping for some fun racing later in the year (first race is February 4th) This is a short video, taken by Chris Rowsell, and shows me sailing at the start of this years New Years Day race. My first time out with a new Highwater Sails mainsail. A big improvement on the old one (which had holes that I could put my fingers through) Obviously any sailing in mid winter is weather dependant. We were lucky that we finished the race before the wind increased to the predicted 20 and then 40+ knots. Even so there were several capsizes - while I sailed more cautiously than I would have done in warmer weather. But we didn't escape the rain! Air temperature was about 9C, say 48F, the water felt colder! Oh, I finished 2nd. But, as always, it was the sail that was the important thing, not the results.

Can't believe we're back in The Bahamas after almost a year! Well... a lot of things have changed in the Caribbean. We started our week off in the Grand Bahama and started to make our way to a small island. It was a rough sail but we made it. It was beautiful, we spent the night over there but something made us be really concerned about our safety. The first thing next morning we headed over to Nassau to meet our good friends CAVU. Boats are always slowly sinking and require constant upkeep. We're seeking a freshwater leak, no a fan of losing drinking water. We're dismantling the boat to find every leak. I'm so glad we solved it; nothing is more unnerving than the water pump turning on when you're not using water. This video covers the regular maintenance we do on our sailboat, including toilet repair, which is a constant headache. We have to replace both flush water valves on our Dometic vacuum toilets. However, that wasn't the only leak causing us issues; the major leak was surprisingly simple yet odd. The bilges on a boat should never be neglected; check them at least a few times a week. At the marina, we wash down the bilge with a hose, clean the shower sumps, and remove barnacles from the sensors, which took most of the day, but as always, my babe had a great meal ready. We've received our new solar panels. Krannich delivered the Aptos 440-watt bifacial panels and helped me get them onto the sailboat. Installation, including a new solar arch, is scheduled for next week, hopefully. Left their information below. They are a global solar provider. After all that, Danielle was ready to get off the boat. We made our first stop at smash burgers, a treat after months of cooking ourselves. The grocery store was next to restock fresh veggies.
