Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. IL CLIMA La mitezza del clima , le scogliere stupende, il mare limpido, i tramonti mozzafiato, i prati e i cespugli della vegetazione aromatica, mediterranea, ne fanno un posto incantevole... STORIA Nella Cala del Genovese , a 30 mt sul livello del mare, è stata scoperta nel 1949 una grotta di alto interesse artistico e scientifico proprio per la presenza di graffiti del paleolitico superiore e del periodo dell'età del rame. NOTIZIE Nell'isola, due alberghi-ristorante hanno la capacità di 70 posti letto, alcuni posti letto si trovano nelle famiglie. Un chilometro di strada, contradistingue la possibilità di circolazione automobilistica; la guardia medica è permanente. Non vi sono campeggi, ed il campeggio libero è vietato. ESCURSIONI IN BARCA Levanzo, isola di quiete e di silenzio.... Le gite in barca a vela, magari con i charter nautici, attorno all'isola, fanno godere della bellezza del mare cristallino e incontaminato, passare delle intere giornate immersi nella totale libertà che questa isola sa dare..... rigenera l'anima, e ammorbidisce il carattere..... Episode 31 - We Hit A Reef! Wow! It's been a long time since I posted an episode. A lot has happened on Family Circus since our last episode. We've had many guests and crew over the last two months and have fallen way behind on creating episodes. We've had a challenging couple of months and were lucky to have a new crew member, Maria, join us in Fiji to sail off to Vanuatu, New Caledonia and then New Zealand. We arrived in New Zealand just in time for my mom to fly in and meet us for Christmas. Maria, my Mom and JD have all now departed the boat and Family Circus is back to four. Sayo and I are now loving the space. But before all of that...... we hit a reef!

We had a water pump go out on our sailboat and did the necessary trouble shooting and repair to get it running again. This is good information for those boaters or RVers that may encounter the same problem.

This week we made progress on a lot of little tasks. None of these made me feel great about our progress, but getting many of them done was needed. We did some more awlwood preparation and applying the finish. We sanded the bowsprit again, and then applied primer to it. We found a serious problem with some stringers in the galley (Uggh). We also removed some old plumbing lines and removed some rotted cupboard bases.
