Como já havia ido no ano passado, este primeiro trecho, foi fácil. Seguindo o treking da velejada anterior! Fundeio próximo à casa de veraneio do cmte Guarany, velejador de Santarém e seu pai, Sr Guarany. Existe um banco de areia, em forma de caracol que deixa super tranquila a ancoragem. Depois de um bom descanso, onde tentei, sem sucesso, postar o vídeo da primeira parte. (Desculpar-me pela forma artesanal, sem edição que vcs tanto merecem.) rumamos, Mina Maria e eu, para a ponta Grande do Arapiuns. Extenso banco de areia, na época do Rio com pouca água, Jul a Dez, alonga-se para o meio do rio. Lugar muito bonito desprotegido do vento, sem nenhuma estrutura, como bares ou restaurantes. Local ideal para apreciar um belo por do sol! Ruim é não ser cartografado e cheio de baixios, lajes de pedras. O que deixa a navegação, principalmente o velejo, ariscado. After many years of outfitting the Oday 272 and sailing the Channel Islands we finally found the vessel that will most likely be the last for us. A Union 32 designed by Ted Brewer in 1984. Only 43 were built in the Tai Shing boatyard.

One of the many projects we are doing aboard Tāiko before we leave the marina is testing our custom made rain catcher. We had this custom made for us back in March 2022 when all the boat jobs were being undertaken. We've heard from other sailors that sailing is just spent time fixing your boat or waiting for boat parts in exotic locations. Therefore, on Tāiko, we live by the principle to keep things simple. One of the ways we are doing this is by not having a water maker on board Tāiko. However, it does mean we need to be very careful with our water use and need to have a contingency plan. By living a more minimalistic and sustainable lifestyle, she has provided us with a better work/life balance and has taught us to live and be present more in the moment. Tāiko has also taught us to be more independent and less reliant on services. Some of these experiences have taken us out of our comfort zone many times but as the saying goes, ‘a comfort zone is a wonderful place but nothing grows there’. Our plan is to do blue water cruising. So, over the next year we will be completing some maintenance work on Tāiko and be getting her ready to meet New Zealand’s category 1 requirements to be able to go offshore. Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen.
