Graham Jarvis took 2nd place on the podium at Hell's Gate Italy. Battling his way to the end of a long and demanding day’s racing,Jarvis raced his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing TE 300 to second overall at the 13th edition of Hell’s Gate Extreme Enduro. Despite this year’s running of Hell’s Gate featuring a much revised and simplified race format to previous years, the event once again proved to be anything but easy. The morning qualifying race ended with Jarvis, taking no risks, placed in fifth. Working his way forward having failed to get away from the start quickly, Graham fought his way from outside the top 10 to fourth in no time at all. Setting an impressive pace, he then moved into second with close to half the race remaining. Yet despite his best efforts, Jarvis was unable to catch leader Wade Young. With the final 30 minutes of the race a torturous test of endurance around a highly-technical Endurocross track, Jarvis secured a deserved runner-up result. Ensuring more success for Husqvarna,teammate Mario Roman overcame an issue with his headlight to secure third. Graham Jarvis: “I didn't make things easy for myself at the start. I was really slow away from the drop of the flag, so I had quite a few riders to pass. There were only two technical areas of the track, so it was hard to make up time. The spectators did a great job helping the riders, but again it made it hard for me to make up any time on Wade. But hats off to Wade, he rode a really good race. I feel like I rode well, so I’m happy with that, and it’s another podium result at Hell’s Gate. Although it was a completely different race than all previous years it was still tough – it was a long day on the bike.

Sailing to Madagascar, woooo hooo!!!! We leave the amazing Chagos Archipelago and set sail for Madagascar about 1,500 miles away. Just over a week into the passage we pass through an area of shallows known of the Mascarene Plateau. It's an interesting place because in the middle of the Indian Ocean the depth rises from 2,000 meters to 20 meters. In some places it's even boat smashing coral reefs so we need to be extra careful with our navigation. In fact the Team Vestas Volvo Ocean Race boat wrecked very close to here. As we pick our way through the shallow spots the fish alarm starts hitting BIG! We're talking multiple hits with Mahi, Tuna, and Wahoo. We're pulling them in faster than we can filet them. It's by far the best fishing day we've had in our lives! We finish the day off with an incredible Sushi dinner courtesy of Babs mad cooking skills. This is our story, a story of three souls sailing around the world. It is a story about sailing, but it's also a story about the fantastic people we meet and amazing places we see. It's a story of people living their lives in an alternate way, in close connection with the beautiful people and amazing planet that we call home. We're rocketing down the Chesapeake Bay in storm conditions of 55 knot winds and huge waves. Then our rig makes a sound like a gun shot and we scramble to asses the damage before we hit a lee shore..... After finishing our mini-refit in Annapolis we set sail under calm, beautiful conditions. Our destination is Little Creek, Virginia where we'll stop and prepare to round the notorious Cape Hatteras. On our 2nd day out the conditions build throughout the day and by afternoon we find ourselves in terrible winds with huge following seas. The winds are a solid 40 knots with gusts to 55 knots. Things go sideways when we get hit by a combination of a wind shift and a large breaking sea that causes our jib to backwind and smashes our downwind pole into Delos. With a lee shore ahead we need to asses the damage and get some sail up to get into a protected anchorage. Many hugs and hope you liked the video! For me, sometimes extreme boredom, frustration with the motion of the boat, feeling isolated/alone, and missing friends and family bucket loads can lead to a little bit of a breakdown every now and then. I’m only human! There are always dramas onboard (EVERYONE has them), weather it be physical or mental. When La Vagabonde has been rocking and rolling back and forth for 4 days straight, and I’ve been copping bruises from the furniture and hoping for the slightest break in the weather that never comes, a boiling pot of water being thrown at me you could say was my last straw. The good times always end up evening out with the bad, but the unpredictability of each day can be stressful and has been since day 1. One day can be the best day of my life, filled with aqua blue waters, smooth sails, palm trees and sunshine, and the next can be the worst….. no sleep for a few days, breaking expensive equipment, haven’t showered or eaten and I’m questioning what on earth I’m doing trying to sail around the world having no sailing experience. But in the end, it’s all worth it for me. I love every minute of it, what we have seen and done around the world with Riley on La Vagabonde. But holey tolitos sometimes it can be tough! Sailing through the Andaman Islands! We leave Port Blair after checking in and set sail for Havelock Island to begin our island hopping adventure. The boys fish for "SEXUAL FAVORS" and we make a batch of Kombucha Hoocha and have a sweet day lounging and drinking on the beach. We then sail to Inglis and North Button Islands where we catch squid, do some fishing, diving, and have a massive beach bonfire. Footage from April 2015.
