Now you can! We were out filming in Simpson Bay at St Maarten, Caribbean the other day and came across "VENUS" sitting proudly at anchor, just getting ready to head to sea! We filmed several yachts, including the 157ft SuperYacht "C2", owned by Ronald Perelman.. Billionaire investor and philanthropist with holdings in Revlon Group of womens cosmetics, and AM General which is the company known for the Hummer and Humvee utility vehicles. At 82m in length, "VENUS" was the direct brain child of the late Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple for many years. Jointly designed with Philippe Starck, the yacht elegantly boasts pure simplicity in line with Steve Job's desire to design private, quiet places that provided the Zen like atmosphere that he preferred. Steve was once quoted as saying, "I've tried to be inspired by the Asian idea that emptiness is more important than fullness"... Hence the famous transparent chair he designed in 1998 called "The Marie" that he believed to be an "almost perfect object", just as his idea to bring "VENUS" to life as the Elegance of Minimal. Unfortunately, Steve Jobs passed away before ever getting to see his final masterpiece come to life, but the family brought the project to completion and now "VENUS" roams the Earth in Steve's memory with a fixed crew of 22 onboard. Hello Friends, This is the long format episode that chronicles my 32 day, 2300 nm passage from Los Angeles to Honolulu onboard my 1965 Alberg 30 sailboat SV TRITEIA. 1000 miles from Hawaii my rudder failed due to striking a submerged object (that was painted red). After failed attempts to secure the control lines to the rudder due to large seas and high winds I was forced to steer with a small "Sea Squid" drogue for 18 days. Triteia is equipped with a vintage Sailomat Aux Rudder wind vane which helped a great deal but was far undersized compared to the large rudder attached to Triteia’s full keel. The Windvane started to fail internally soon after the rudder failure. I was able to make a makeshift tiller handle that allowed me to turn the boat to get it back on course but the self steering started popping out of gear and stopped working completely while I crossed the channel between Molokai and Oahu forcing me to sit on the transom and hand steer for the last 6 hours of this intense passage. Captain David Stovall: 200-Ton Masters Near Costal License Holder, Screen writer and a Texan so we are likely kinfolk. Stovall keep me updated with ships if I had questions while my brother was at work. He helped me work out the drogue steering and called BoatUS trying to get me a tow into port. Captain Noah Peffer: 50-Ton Masters Near Costal License Holder, Professor of Nautical Sciences, Artist and dear friend. I hold Noah’s opinion as gospel and he has saved my ass on the last two passages. He is the one I bug when I am terrified. We begin the day catching small live bait in return for big deep sea fish. After that we venture out to the Islamorada hump to live bait chum mahi-mahi and blackfin tuna to the surface. Thereafter we fill the box with more than enough tuna and dolphin which we the decided to make a move to try and deep drop for grouper. After a couple drops we eventually acquired a catch and we decided to make the long run home. Upon our arrival back towards shore we were greeted with the crystal clear aqua blue water that lines the Florida Keys. I couldn’t resist getting in the water as we were running over one of my lobster spots. Therefore I hopped in grabbed two lobsters, one for me one for Stephanie and then finally made it home. After arrival we show you guys how to clean a lobster and mahi-mahi and then, take it upstairs to Stephanie as she shows us how to prepare a beautiful fish piccata meal.

Having zero knowledge or experience with sailing, or even how to furl in the head sail, we bought a yacht in Italy.. we plan to circumnavigate the globe eventually, or just get the boat back to Australia.
