After a long break, I'm finally back with a life update. Over the last two years, a lot has changed. In this video I explore the different sailing lifestyles people choose—from full-time cruising and liveaboards to seasonal sailors and professionals who only sail a few weeks each year. Along the way, I share the path I've decided to pursue: a hybrid life that combines a home base on land with the freedom to sail. You'll get a look around the property, a glimpse of the tiny house, updates on life behind the scenes, and some of the plans I'm working toward next. This channel has always been about freedom, adventure, and building a life on your own terms. The destination may have evolved, but the mission hasn't changed. Thanks for being here. More videos are on the way—including a full tiny house tour. Subscribe if you'd like to follow the journey. ————————————————————————— Stay connected! 🔗 Facebook: [facebook.com/bumsonaboat] Instagram: [instagram.com/bumsonaboat] #tinyhouse #BoatLife #SailingLife #LifeUpdate #Homestead #OffGridLiving #FreedomLifestyle #SailboatLiving #PropertyDevelopment #BumsOnABoat
Welcome to a new episode! This week, we are saying goodbye to Norway and for the first time in 2,5 years we point our bow towards Sweden. We set out to make our final long leg for this trip, but it ends up becoming a bit longer than planned.. Once again proving that a sailors plans are written in sand at low tide! But that also means that this is the episode where we can say that we have officially sailed around the Atlantic Ocean as we for the first time cross our old wake, closing the loop and making a full circle. How cool is that?! Fair winds! Emmy & Marcus ______ We are Emmy and Marcus, a Swedish couple who has decided to leave our home and set sail out into the world with our boat Linnea. After a season in the Caribbean, we decided to leave Linnea in Trinidad and fly back to Sweden for the hurricane season. This allowed us to get an extra year of sailing and reach even more beautiful destinations for our second season of cruising. For now the goal is Greenland and back home to Sweden, via the Caribbean, BVIs, Bahamas, US east coast, and Canada. But who really knows how far our dreams might take us? Welcome aboard our floating home Linnea to join us on our adventures! ______ SUPPORT THE VIDEO PROJECT! Mary’s phone, and only Mary’s phone keeps sliding off the shelf onto her as she sleeps. It is so bizarre. We appear to have a ghost on W. Grebe. 🤷♂️
Join us this week on Sailing Nendaz as I get to work on painting the decks. We chose to paint them with Kiwi Grip, which is a paint that dries with a texture and therefore provides grip. We mainly did this for two reasons, to stop Walter slipping around on deck, and also because the white painted decks were peeling in various places. Watch till the end to watch Walter walk on our freshly painted decks! Follow us on Instagram: @at_the_hansons Subscribe to our YouTube: Sailing Nendaz

BUON DIVERTIMENTO! Skipper Large Powerboat Course - https://www.nauticed.org/powerboating-courses/view/skipper-large-powerboat?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=jeBCCli7Q8I New England Propeller - https://neprop.com Do NOT use bottom paint on your propeller. Most bottom paints contain metals that react with prop metals and accelerate corrosion/electrolysis. In this practical guide, we explain what to use (and what to avoid), how marina electrical currents vs mooring/trailering affect corrosion risk, and why your zincs must stay bare (no coating on the zincs or on the shaft where they clamp). What you’ll learn - Why bottom paint is wrong for props: metal-on-metal reactions → corrosion - Coatings vs nothing: when growth pressure is high, prop-specific coatings (e.g., PropSpeed and similar) can help—results vary by harbor and maintenance - Electrolysis basics: marina currents increase risk; mooring/trailering reduce exposure - Zincs matter: never coat anodes or the metal-to-metal contact area on the shaft - Cost reality: coatings can be pricey; some boaters re-coat and still haul quickly if growth returns 00:00 - Don’t Use Bottom Paint 00:12 - Why Props Corrode 00:43 - Don’t Coat Your Zincs 00:55 - Should You Coat a Prop? 01:21 - Prop Speed vs Bottom Paint 01:41 - Costly Re-Coating Problem #powerboat #propeller #boating
Part 169 of a series: Sailing Tampa Bay to Key West. Canal crusing in Port Charlotte, Florida. Heading to a secret location, we reflect on how much we love our shallow draft, trailer sailer. Although every boat is a compromise, this Odin 820 is extremely versitile.

In this episode, I discuss the importance of properly securing your boat to the trailer. I include several examples of what happens when you don't properly secure the boat to the trailer. I cover in detail how I secure the boat to the trailer with multiple straps, the philosophy I use, how I prevent damage to the gelcoat and fiberglass, tips for using straps, and the equipment I use and where I got it.
