This year it happened again that the wind vane in the mast top had some issues. So I decided to replace it completely instead of repair it again. This is a short video showing how to climb a 13 meter mast in a bit more than one minute :-) and remove the wind vane including cable (in exchange to a pilot line). Therefore I use my mast ladder which I'd set up before. Filmed with the GoPro Hero 6 Black Enjoy!

There's been a lot going on in the boatshed this week.I've cut black locust plugs and plugged the screw holes in the toerail; the woodwork on the main and fore decks has been prepped and varnished; the main entrance hatch is also in the process of being varnish sealed; the deck lockers and anchor chain box have all been painted out; the lazarette hatch frame has been worked and painted; a shore power connection has been prepped, and the undersides of the hatch turtle and lazarette hatch have been finished - all in preparation for the final coats of hull and deck paint!! This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. Custom aluminum landing craft, this is a really well built hard to find workboat, with lots of great innovative features. Set up for both towing and carrying cargo, the shallow draft bow and lowering bow ramp make for handy loading at the beach in inaccessible areas.
