Time to say goodbye! Selling boats is never straightforward! Since the upcoming sale of Intrepid Bear had generated a fair bit of interest we booked 2 weeks ashore as soon as we got back in order to do some underwater work, allow for viewings and for potential buyers to carry out surveys. We quickly bought a car and then a caravan to live whilst we decluttered (as well as for future breaks), and in no time at all we’d received an asking price offer. Since nothing is straightforward with boats there followed much hoop jumping, stress, 2 weeks ashore became 4 until finally it was done - she was sold! All that remained was to say goodbye and a set off on a final solo sail across familiar waters from Poole to deliver her to her new owner in the Solent. #sailing #followintrepidbear #liveaboard #sailboat #sailinglife #boating

Avec le projet d'atteindre l'Antarctique, au cours d'un voyage vers le sud, de Puerto Monte vers Puerto Williams (2 500 km) du 29 novembre au 8 janvier, dans les canaux de Patagonie chilienne, après deux jours de navigation, Sir Ernst fait relâche à la Marina de Quinched ( ile de Chiloe) . Ce sera l'avant dernière marina qu'il verra au cours des 40 jours de navigation suivants pour atteindre Puerto Williams au sud d'Ushaia.

The small farming village of Veron had been a quiet, peaceful place for as long as anyone could remember. While the locals made enough money to get by, there was never quite enough to make a real difference in their lives. That all changed one day when the villagers were out harvesting their rice crop and noticed something strange in the paddy - glints of gold! Word quickly spread throughout the village that they had discovered gold in their paddy and soon, everyone was abuzz with excitement over this newfound wealth. The elders of Veron wasted no time in organizing an small operation on the properly extract the gold with a home built dredge which it was very basic and a lot of gold was being lost . The first two hours turned up nearly an ounce of gold.Everyone cheered with jubilation; finally, here was something that would change their fortunes for good! Unser Segelboot Squib, ein Catalac 9M, ist in die Jahre gekommen, die Verkleidung hängt teilweise von der Decke, die Farbe blättert ab, die Elektrik auf dem Stand des vorigen Jahrtausends,..... Ein Refit steht an. Doch Broterwerb und Verpflichtungen lassen es nicht zu, monatelang in Griechenland am Boot zu arbeiten. Da wird schon 2018 die Idee geboren Squib nach Wien zu bringen, wo man jederzeit Zugang hat, der Einkauf von Material in der Muttersprache abgewickelt werden kann und alles Andere seinen gewohnten Verlauf nimmt. 2021 war es dann endlich soweit, mit zwei komplett überholten Motoren und einem neuen Geräteträger starteten wir Anfang Juli Richtung Südfrankreich.Leider hatten wir für die gesamte Reise nur zwei Monate Zeit, deswegen hieß es die meiste Zeit Strecke machen. Doch manchmal nahmen wir uns die Zeit zu verweilen, uns Orte näher anzuschauen. We had an amazing week finishing our journey to Gibraltar. We came across too many dolphin pods to count! There were hundreds of them! Such an amazing feeling to have them travel with you for a while. We saw jellyfish and an enormous sea turtle as well. We also tried our hand at deep sea fishing on the Strait of Gibraltar to catch tuna. When we arrived back in Gibraltar, Gina and Ruby were waiting for us at the dock. It was so nice to be reunited with them again. It was only about a week of being apart, but it's always tough to not be together as a whole unit. We got there on Ruby's birthday too, so we got to really concentrate on what makes her so special. We're so lucky to have her in our family. This has been such an incredible six months sailing in this part of the world. We've had too many life-changing experiences to count. But it's time for us to say goodbye to the Outremer for a few months. We're heading home to spend time with friends and family who we miss dearly. Then we'll be taking on our biggest adventure yet: sailing across the Atlantic Ocean. We're excited to have you along for the ride. Thank you for watching. We'll see you next week.
