Over the last few months our windlass (the bit of kit that lifts and drops the anchor ) has been getting slower and slower .... so in the video we strip the windlass to assess whats wrong ……… whilst the video might not be very exciting .... it will guide anyone who has a similar problem....... Whilst spares for this windlass are no longer available we managed to get some brushes that were just a big too big and got these machined down .....however this repair didn't work and we suspect that the issue is with the motor windings .....so break out the wallet and we purchased a new windlass. Treasure is always in the eye of the beholder. Whenever I’m walking along a beach, my gaze is constantly sweeping the sand for shark teeth, arrowheads, unusual shells, or—if luck is really on my side—a stray gold doubloon. Even with the beach packed with people, we still managed to uncover a few shark teeth and some small shells. At day’s end, we laid out our finds for comparison.
