Weißbach an der Alpenstraße zwischen Inzell und Bad Reichenhall in den 1950er Jahren (wohl im Februar 1954). Leben im Dorf, Holzknechte bei der Arbeit unter den strengen Augen von Förster Hein. Wegemacher Strippenlochner, Heini Gollinger als Skilehrer der Damen aus Berlin. Skifahren damals. Urlaubsfreuden. Die Dorfschule, damals "zweizügig" (Klasse 1-4 und Klasse 5-7 wurden abwechselnd Vor- und Nachmittags unterrichtet) ist heute das Verkehrsbüro. Zwei Ehepaare und zwei Kinder zu sechst im Opel Kapitän (Kennzeichen KB = Kommandatura Berlin, amtl. Kennzeichen bis 1956 Die Winteraufnahmen stammen von dem Berliner Zeitungsverleger Kurt Lezinsky, gest. 1967. Zu sehen auch Gattin Ingrid und Sohn Rainer und die Familie Genz, ebenfalls aus Berlin Spandau. Weißbach ist heute ein Ortsteil der Gemeinde Weißbach / Schneizlreuth. Der Ort hat bis heute einen tollen Charme und ist nicht so überlaufen, wie die angrenzenden Gebiete auf der deutschen Seite und im Salzburger Land. Salzburg und diverse Skigebiete und die gesamten Berchtesgadener und Chiemgauer Alpen, der Chiemgau und der Rupertiwinkel sind leicht erreichbar. Eine Liebe, die bis heute hält. Here's a quick video of one of our maintenance projects while the boat is out of the water. We had been told in the past that this is not a job you want to tackle while in the water - and boy, were they right! I couldn't find a how-to video or any visual instructions on how to do this, so hopefully this video will be useful to other sailors. Removing them with a flat head screw driver is fairly easy. Inserting the new ones is tough, and took some trying before finding a technique that worked without getting fingers mangled. If you have a sewing palm handy, or any hard surface you can fit in the palm of your hand without slipping, this job becomes very doable. Enjoy!

We start our sail north from San Diego, and after some brief stops in Dana Point, Newport Beach, and beautiful Santa Cruz Island, we make it to Santa Barbara. We wait in Santa Barbara until we get a good weather window to go up the central coast, and that'll all be in the Leg 2 video!

Welcome back aboard Moor R & R for this week's adventure – Episode 31! Join us as we continue our journey through the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, where every day brings a new anchorage, incredible wildlife, and unforgettable experiences. While the weather hasn't always been on our side, the beauty of this part of Australia never disappoints. This week, we drop anchor in the stunning Butterfly Bay, where nature puts on an incredible show. Massive schools of bait fish gather close to shore, attracting hungry sharks that put on an unforgettable feeding frenzy right before our eyes. It's one of those moments that reminds us just how wild and untouched these waters really are. Next, we make our way to Manta Bay, one of my absolute favourite places in the Whitsundays. The crystal-clear water, colourful coral gardens, and abundance of marine life make for some truly amazing snorkelling, and it's easy to see why this spot keeps calling us back. Our adventure then takes us out to the iconic Hook Reef, where we spend our days exploring beneath the surface and trying our luck with the fishing rods. After a run of disappointing catches, our luck finally changes in a big way, making for an exciting day aboard and a well-earned fresh seafood dinner! From breathtaking reef scenery and incredible marine life to peaceful anchorages and life aboard our floating home, this episode captures everything we love about sailing Australia's east coast.
