@Barefoot Doctors Sailing - Catch up with the Barefoot Doctors Sailing story while we wait for our replacement Leopard 45 after losing our new Leopard 50 to a fire.... Last week we sailed to the top of the Sandy Straits, explore Lake Mackenzie, whales and Fraser Island and had a fantastic sail the 40 miles down the full length of the the Sandy Straits. This week we find ourselves grounded after a storm, pushed up the beach at high tide and the first tides don't allow us off - will we get off with the following tides??? We also make the decision to get over to the Annapolis Boat Show so have to sell the Macgregor 26 in a hurry and it sells like a hot cake!!! We review the pros and cons of the Macgregor 26 and tell you what we REALLY think..... Binge watch and come barefoot with us as we travel and explore the planet, mostly from the water but sometimes through the minds of others as we provide aid and support where needed through the amazing TUFMINDS solutions! The free TUFMINDS program is released as a smartphone program under the Exqisit Life Foundation Charity, a registered not for profit and requires financial support to fund the free program. TUFMINDS saves lives by intervening at the point of suicide and pulling everyone to higher levels of mental resilience, wellbeing and functioning. it also creates better attitudes, resilience and coping - all very important for sailors facing difficult situations at sea. @Barefoot Doctors Sailing Donations to the charity to support Suicide Prevention with the free TUFMINDS program can be made at: https://shoutforgood.com/charities/ex... In this episode we take a few days rest ,swimming and snorkelling before Blown Away departs Meganisi and heads south towards the land of SPARTA , famed for it's ruthless warriors and unconquered terrains, legend has it that the Spartans threw their deformed new borns over the cliffs and into the seas. Whilst rounding the southern tip of Lefkas we find a fellow sailor in trouble and stop to assist, we take them under a long line tow to safety and spend the night in Sivota. The following day we leave for Ithaka to meet up with a you tube channel that we watch called Sailing Exodus (Wim and Anja) and swop sailing stories over a coffee. The sailing between the island of Lefkada and Ithaka was beautiful , a beam reach in 15 knots of wind from North West gave us six to seven knots of boat speed and Blown Away lifted her skirt and danced. Big changes are happening in the world of superyachts, and few stories show that better than DRAAK. In this vlog, we discuss the remarkable rebuild of the former Equanimity at OceanCo in the Netherlands, where she has been transformed from a highly luxurious superyacht into a serious support vessel. It is a fascinating shift in purpose, and one that says a lot about how yachting is evolving. From her former main salon becoming a crew mess, to the beach club being turned into a dive centre, this is not just a refit… it is a complete reinvention. We also talk about the growing popularity of support yachts, why owners are increasingly drawn to them, and whether rebuilding an existing yacht can really make more sense than starting again from scratch. It opens up a much bigger conversation about utility, adventure, sustainability, and the future of large yacht ownership. Along the way, we also touch on several other major yachting news stories, including the striking explorer yacht PROJECT 03, the newly revealed AL REEM, the second Amels 80 known as NETTUNO 2, and a viewer question about which classification society is considered the strictest. If you enjoy yacht news, industry insight, and a bit of behind-the-scenes perspective from inside the brokerage world, this one is for you. Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and leave a comment if there is a yacht topic you’d like us to cover in a future vlog. I have recently been reading a lot of books about sailing in rough seas, particulalry ones around the UK and Iceland. This has also lead me into the debates over sea anchors so I decided what b etter way to decide for myslef than to test one on the Black Pig. So, I got a sea anchor and this video shows me testing it out to see if it will really stop me drifting like it should do. The test was largely successful, but I learnt a few things. Firstly you need to size an anchor to your boat, secondly you need wind to to get the full effectiveness of the anchor. I also test the new jib weight and the extension cable for my outboard battery. This means I can now tuck the battery away in the stowage area of the dinghy. We'll of course be keeping an eye on how well the battery performs today to. It always surprises me just how much power you need to eek out those final tenths of a knot!! 00:00 Intro to the day 01:15 Fitting the Jib weight 03:15 In my bag today 04:32 Outboard extension cable 05:05 Working out the sea anchor 06:40 Of we go! 08:38 Finding a good place to test 09:20 A quick speed test! 10:12 Test 1 - Lying-a-hull drift 11:22 Time for a coffee - waiting for better conditions 12:45 Leaving the mooring 13:10 Testing re-commences - Test 1 lying-a-hull 14:43 Test 2 - Anchor astern - shallow depth 16:42 Test 3 - Anchor astern - medium depth 17:57 Test 4 - Anchor astern - Deepest setting 18:53 Test 5 - Lying-a-hull again due to increasing wind conditions 18:45 Test 6 - Anchor of the bow 20:49 Sea anchor jolting effect in waves 22:08 Conclusions

For some inexplicable reason, ARGO came with carpet in the saloon – which, unsurprisingly, turned out to be completely impractical on a boat. Water, sand and constant damp quickly made it clear that it had to go. In this episode, Jason walks through the full process of removing the old carpet and replacing it with marine-grade EVA foam flooring. From careful preparation to achieving a clean, professional finish, this upgrade makes a huge difference to both comfort and practicality on board. We cover the details that matter – including creating a precise border around the edges, working neatly around the curved base of the table, and tackling the tricky contours of the saloon seating. If you’re thinking about installing EVA foam flooring on your own boat, this is a must-watch before you start. Thanks for watching.
