In parts 1 and 2 you saw us discover major cracks in the bulkheads of the boat. In this final part we get a visit from the Lagoon catamaran dealer in Panama to assess the damage, and the next day get struck by lightning in the anchorage!! We lose almost all of our electronics except the solar system and batteries (luckily!). Panama is one of the worst places in the world for lightning in the rainy season, but with cracked bulkheads, we were not able to go anywhere else. SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018. With wind in our favor we sail to the Cape Cod Canal and then to ProvinceTown (P-Town), Cape Cod where we explore the beach and lighthouse. We make it to Isle of Shoals in New Hampshire where we explore the islands by drone and dinghy, actually making it into Maine waters for the first time this season! We sailed from one beautiful Thai island to another and found an abandoned 5 start resort that has been overgrown by moss and ivy. It was pretty creepy walk through the ruins of the resprt. Someone probably lost millions on the development. Then the ladies had a bikini photoshoot on the beach. I'm not complaining about that at all. The 230 Wake we tested took full advantage of the optional 430-hp Twin Rotax 4-TEC engines installed. She sports some pretty wicked options like power windows and killer upgraded sound system with integrated public address system. Onboard there is room for 12 people or up to 2000 lbs of people and gear. You will always have the perfect wake by controlling up to 1000 lbs of ballast water and PerfectPass WakeboardPro speed control. There is plenty of room to stow your wakeboards onboard the twin racks on the standard tower and when you are done for the day you can stow your boat on the standard tandem axle trailer with disc brakes.

We do a full install of our new B&G Halo 20+ Radar, Zeus 3S 9 Chartplotter, and Triton 2 Sailing Displays. Since having Sierra onboard sailing and watch keeping has become more difficult as we find our attention divided between caring for The Little Nugget and Delos. Because of this we felt the need to upgrade our radar and chart plotter to a new B & G system with more manual controls and better radar zone and AIS alarms. For years I have used BALMAR Alternators on my sailboats for bulk charging of battery banks, that's why when it was time to rebuild a new charging system for our new BETA MARINE diesel engine onboard 'SOPHISTICATED LADY", I went back to BALMAR to see what they would recommend. Immediately they referred me to their newest line of High-Output charging devices, the 96-Series 48Vdc line of alternators. I was a little perplexed by the recommendation at the start, but the more I studied, the more I realized that 48Vdc charging and storage banks were going to be the way of the future in mobile off-grid platforms like Boats, RVs, Tiny Homes, etc. Today I am very happy to bring you my installation of our first of these new devices, and I am sure you will be hearing much more about them in the future as the technology becomes more widely adapted by end-users like us.
