⛵️ We continue our sailing on the East Coast of Sweden and we use PredictWind Professional for our route planning. In this episode, we begin in Borgholm on the beautiful island of Öland. We explore the town, visit the ruins of Borgholm Castle, and take a bike ride through the meadows — and have a look at traditional Swedish Midsummer food. Then it’s time to plan our next passage. We show how we use PredictWind to check weather, routing, and local wind patterns before setting sail. We cast off, set the sails, and continue south — ending by sailing under the impressive Öland Bridge, which was Europe’s longest bridge when it was built in 1972, connecting the island to the mainland. In 2008, a farm boy from Indiana named Alex Rust was working at The Chicago Board of Trade. He found success, but not happiness. At the age of 25 Alex quit his job and drove to Florida in search of something better. He traded his old minivan for a small sailboat he found on Craigslist. Saga47swan sailing is currently exploring the remote Jardines de la Reina , 200 nm of reefs and tropical islands. We are all alone, have not seen anyone for the past 7 days - lots of reefs packed with fish and huge lobsters . Skipper Chris finally managed to caught one - it was so big it nearly ran off with him ;)

Dicono che i giorni più belli per un armatore siano quello in cui compra la barca e quello in cui la vende... ma tutti si dimenticano del cantiere! Dimenticate spiagge bianche, atolli e palme da cocco: oggi si fatica. Finalmente siamo pronti per tirare Y2K fuori dall'acqua (non succedeva dal 2023!), ma l'alaggio si è trasformato in un vero e proprio "cinema". Senza il motore funzionante (smontato in attesa di pezzi dal Giappone per via della corrosione) e con il Travel lift del marina che si è rivelato troppo basso per farci entrare di poppa a causa dei pannelli solari, abbiamo dovuto letteralmente smontare mezza barca, rimuovendo sia lo strallo del genoa che quello di trinchetta, mentre ci facevamo rimorchiare dai ragazzi del porto con il loro gommone di servizio! Ein älterer Dokumentarfilm, der nicht nur das Herz der Fahrtensegler trifft (DVD-Film). Diesmal geht es durch den schwedischen Schärengarten entlang rauer Felsformationen in den wunderschönen Oslofjord. Die Zuschauer werden Teil der Crew, segeln mal hart am Wind, erleben Regen, Sturm und Hagel oder räkeln sich entspannt unter blauem Sommerhimmel an Deck der FeO, einer Hallberg Rassy 29. Der Törn verlief auf der klassischen Route über Anholt – Göteborg – Strömstad – Oslo, zurück über Laesö und in unsere heimischen Gewässer. Das durch die Eiszeit geprägte Schärenrevier macht sorgfältige Navigation zur eisernen Bedingung, auch wenn bunte Leuchttürme auf kleinen Felsinseln Seefahrern den rechten Weg weisen. Die Crew hat ihn glücklicherweise immer gefunden, auch wenn sie manches Mal vor der Frage stand, nehmen wir die Innenpassage oder fahren wir außen herum. Hier sind Revierkenntnisse gefragt. Und wer die Route noch nicht kennt, bekommt durch den Film hilfreiche Informationen und wichtige Navigationshinweise. Liegt die Yacht nach mehr oder minder anstrengendem Tagestörn abends im Hafen, genießt die Besatzung nicht nur leckeres Essen aus der kleinen Bordküche, sondern schlendert entspannt durch kleine beschauliche Hafenstädte mit den typischen bunten Holzhäusern oder herrschaftlichen Villen in der landesüblichen Architektur. Zuweilen zieht die Crew auch die Wanderschuhe an. Mal führt der Weg über glatt geschliffenen Grund, mal durch lichte Laubwälder, denn jeder weiß, dass man die Schönheit der Schärenlandschaft nicht nur vom Boot aus wahrnehmen sollte. Auch die Kultur kommt auf dieser Reise nicht zu kurz, denn viele Sehenswürdigkeiten liegen sozusagen auf dem Weg. Ob in Göteborg, Varberg, Strömstad oder Oslo. Die bedeutendsten sind in dem Film festgehalten.
