Sharyn-Leigh is a Shearwater 45, built by Acheson Rossa of South Africa. Her sister ship was voted "Traditional Voyager of the Year" and "Overall Sailboat of the Year" 2001 at the Annapolis Sailboat Show. Sharyn-Leigh is a boat with classic good looks and exhilerating performance. In a sail test of the Shearwater 45 in Yachting Monthly Magazine (Oct'97), James Jermain wrote "This is a stunning looking boat with an impressive performance and delightful manners." She is beautifully fitted out, equipped for world cruising, and has CE Certification.

In episode 6 there is a ”meeting the crew” where we talk about our prior sailing experience and show some footage from Johan’s sail expedition to the Antarctica and South Georgia Island. After a week in Dieppe in Normandy, France we continue to sail south west to Cherbourg. During our 24 hour stay in Cherbourg we visit the Maritime Museum, La cité de la mer, and discover how a nuclear submarine looks from the inside. We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved in to our sailboat RAN, a one-off aluminium built Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started sailing south along the coast of Europe. In total, more than 300 units were built in 5 years. The second-hand market is now open to this best-seller, recently replaced by the Bali 4.2. This catamaran was aimed at the typical charter market in her four-cabin version, though was nevertheless available in an Owner's version. And it’s just as well, because the Bali 4.0 is a very relevant choice for a cruising or a sabbatical year project; this catamaran is perfectly suited for a couple and two children and offers unusual living volume for this size. The same goes for the usable surface areas offered by the deck plan. Offshore, her limited length won’t provide the same level of comfort as a unit 5 feet longer, but she’s easy to handle. Another nice factor is the significantly lower maintenance cost. The excellent surprise that the smallest of the Balis reserves for you is that she actually goes pretty well under sail! Admittedly, her high freeboard and the shallow depth of the keels limit upwind potential. But as soon as you can ease the sheets a little, the Bali quite frankly comes alive. During our test – on a boat with folding propellers, just to be clear - we found her very lively in 12 knots of wind at 100° to the apparent. The helm station is simply raised up a little: it is comfortable, with an elegant and very direct steering wheel working via cable drives. All sail handling/trimming is within the helmsman’s reach. The 4.0 offers astonishing volumes and an innovative pod organization with a wide opening front window - a Plexiglas panel slides vertically with three positions - combined with the opening aft bulkhead and opening lateral bay windows. Sailing "Off the Starboard Hull" Ep 4 - Off to the Boat Show 2016- sailing a Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran This video is about my sail to the Vancouver Boat Show. On the way there were Stellar Sea Lions, Dall's Porpoises and Norm. Off the Starboard Hull is a series of videos about a Canadian couple from Vancouver Island who is planning to sail around the world in August of 2016. We want to take our time, so the trip will last about 10 years with a flexible itinerary. Before we untie the lines, we will be busy exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest and outfitting out Lagoon 400S2, Muskoka, for our offshore adventures. Replacement of our original rod rigging our 1985 Niagara 35 to new 5/16 stainless steel wire at https://havewindwilltravel.com. Lots of decisions to make in this video dealing with the rigging. Going from rod to wire is going to take a lot of modifications on the upper fittings and the forestay ... don't even get me started. And, taping? More taping? YES! We prepped the boat up once again for the fiberglass repair as Video Annie gets ready to clock in at the yard.
