Waiting for us in Inverness after we finished the canal, was our Chinese Diesel Heater, which we were very excited to have a place to sit for a few days and get it installed. Here Matt goes over all the options of heating we have on our boat, which version we chose, and why. Sailing Coco Once through the Corinth Canal we head off to find a nice little anchorage just around the corner of the canal mouth! We spend the night chilling out at anchor and Alf heads to shore to find some well deserved Greek food, which didn’t disappoint. We wake up in the morning to another beautiful anchorage, have some brekkie which was left over Greek food and set off. Taking a gentle sail down to Athens, we find ourselves tied up to a ferry dock as there were no anchorages and no berths available at any of the marinas. Luckily the dock security guard said we could stay for one night. So, with no hesitation we head off to TGI FRIDAYS and enjoy a well deserved drink and an evening on land with some nice food, something we haven’t done for over a week! The next morning we manage to squeeze into a marina and spend the next few days editing videos.... in a hotel. The WiFi in the marina was non existent and the heat in the boat was unbearable. So we treated ourselves to an Aircon’ed hotel room. A few days later we have new crew... Alf’s mum Adele, and his cousin Alyssa. We spend a few days exploring Athens and take them on a little sail around the Greek coast. Follow our adventures sailing the Mediterranean Sea, living on our sailboat! This is a new video that replaces the two older jackline videos. It is a much better redesign. I no longer use any plastic clips and it is ever less expensive and easier to build. Using 4,200 lbs 1 inch nylon webbing this jackline should hold in the most severe conditions. A Jackline is suppose to keep you on the boat and I believe this design will accomplish this with minimal fuss. While every boat is different I hope the ideas presented here will help you design a jackline the works for you.

Dank der Mithilfe eines Bunsenbrenners konnten wir das alte verklemmte und eingerostete Seeventil lösen. Durch die Hitze dehnt sich das Gewinde kurz aus und zieht sich dann wieder zusammen. Das kann dann schon reichen um das Gewinde lösen zu können. Das neue Seeventil haben wir dann noch ordentlich eingehanft und dann wieder raufgeschraubt. Einige Vermessungsarbeiten erledigen wir auch dieses Wochenende. Wir benötigen eine Lazybag und eine neue Genua. Dafür vermessen wir den Baum und das Vorsegel und schicken die Zahlen an Sail Service Germany um uns beides herstellen zu lassen. Steffi versucht sich an unserem Schrank. Getting close to starting, have to primp the oil pump and install the distributor at top dead center number one. In this video, we show how we prime the oil pump on the cheap, and then how to find top dead center on the number one cylinder using a compression gauge and a screwdriver. With then put the plug wires on showing the firing order. When we got our boat back from the mechanic, not only did we have a lot of missing pieces, there was an oil pump in the box. This had us a bit worried because we already had to buy the missing pieces, but to put in an oil pump would require us to pull the engine. Luckily after doing all the test in this video, our minds were put at ease as we saw the oil pressure rise on our oil pressure test gauge. A DAY IN THE LIFE Another regular day on the boat. We get up really early and finally leave Poros. We are off to Kythnos, an island in the Cyclades and continue sailing in Greece. At least that is the plan, until we are 1 hour out and suddenly our batteries start burning up and draining like crazy... Once again we head back to Poros! After some asking around and thanks to the lovely Greek people we get the problem fixed within 24 hours and the next morning we give it another shot. Travel via the wind you say? Welcome back to our story! In the last episode we fixed all of our portlights and hatches... This episode finds us continuing to work on the boat in the form of replacing and rearranging our battery bank along with a battery monitoring system. We also open up our diesel tanks to inspect and clean them. Cleaning tanks is not fun, but it is an important job!
