Chicken and rice a one pot meal on board my sailboat #onepotmeals #cookingonboard it is fun and easy
This excellent example of the sot after USA built C & C 115, launched in 2006 and listed for sale with YOTI now represents seriously good buying. Out Of The Blue would suit those looking for a late model racer / cruiser with excellent performance, comfort and features. Seldom do we see production vessels builtl to this high standard today. Consider her carbon rig, lead keel, varnished Cherry interior which would put many dedicated cruising boats to shame, superior deck hardware, Raymarine instrumentation and solid sail wardrobe. She represents a very competitive market alternative to a Beneteau First 40.7. Contact YOTI to arrange inspection on Pittwater info@yoti.com.au (02) 9979 4043.
A birthday cruise in Puget Sound, Washington, USA with Jetti and my twin sister Diana on board our British registered Skoota 28 powercat. Motoring from Langley on Whidbey Island to our winter marina of Port Ludlow. It was early March and the weather was clear but cold. The solar panels still need fixing properly, the tachometers are not yet connected and there is no autopilot. The 25 miles motor took us 2hours 10 minutes dock to dock and we averaged 6 mpg You can build this 28ft plywood catamaran yourself using plans by Woods Designs See more at www.sailingcatamarans.com
Went to free dive at the Place of Refuge - also known as "2-step" - just south of Kailua-Kona. When we got out - saw these beautiful dolphins and enjoyed spending a good part of an hour with them. Magical experience!
Not much has really happened this week. I am still grinding, nearly finished, and I have only found three more holes. The rest of the hull seems to be quite all right. The part between the keels was not as bad as I feared and I also got some more offers from different welders this week. So step by step, things are going on. This video compliments a paper written by the 49er class that reviews the benefits and covers the perceived drawbacks of concluding 49er regattas in the theatre. Objective To run three, single-point, 10- to 12-minute races in Theatre Style on Finals Day . This competition format adds value because it: • Displays to fans and broadcast media the intensity, skill and beauty of 49er sailing. • Showcases the sport's best sailors in live action and still photography. • Creates new potential revenue streams in fan admissions and increased broadcasts of major world events. Assumptions • Live broadcasting is the best business model for sports , and it is the basis of the business model for the Olympics . • ISAF wants to maximize the appeal of sailing at the Olympics to a live audience while offering the fairest sailing possible. Theatre Style Complements the ISAF Agenda Differentiation ISAF's own Olympic Commission report, states: "Events should be sufficiently differentiated to be seen not to overlap one another. Top Olympic sailors support the three single point races on Finals Day. See video testimonials from: • Nathan Outteridge -- Gold, London Olympics; 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 49er World Champion, Helmsman Artemis, AC72 (http://youtu.be/89Rm7v0WkSQ) • Peter Burling -- Silver, London Olympics; 2013 49er World Champion; Red Bull Youth Americas Cup winner (http://youtu.be/89Rm7v0WkSQ) • Alex Maloney & Molly Meech -- Gold, 2013 49erFX World Championship (http://youtu.be/qsllOVYXJjI) • Allan Noregaard -- Bronze, London Olympics (http://youtu.be/HvlU92ZWRjs) • Ida Nielsen -- Gold, 2013 49erFX European Championship (http://youtu.be/M_OgPAx1lJw) Presentation Three short single-point races run in Theatre Style produces the ultimate sailing showcase because: • Lane boundaries will add value because fans will be able to get closer to the action by positioning their craft just outside the boundaries. In open course racing, it is not possible for fans or media to be anywhere near the sailors. o Overview -- fixed onshore on high points, instead of helicopter. o Camera boats -- RIBS can get close, replacing gyrostabilizer yachts with zooms. o Onboard the competition boats -- a shorter course means more dependable signal transmission. Race Management Running three Theatre Style races is not more complicated than one, double-point race. The Class has worked to streamline and make more efficient all aspects of race management. Particularly: Course Setup/Boundary Ropes - Race officials can manage the lane ropes in any situation without a negative impact on the regatta. Here is a video of how it's done, (http://youtu.be/nUeaw6lzGGs). If conditions are unsuitable, race officials may simply remove the lane ropes and run normal racing. Umpire Playbook -- The 49er Class has been working with umpires Doug Sloan , Bill O'Hara, Marianne Middelthon, and others to develop an umpiring playbook for Theatre Style.

Penned by Groupe Finot, launched in 2007, Paca - a simply wicked Beneteau First 27.7 is proudly and exclusively listed for sale with YOTI. She boasts a fixed keel with bulb and fixed rudder - both features only offered on later model 27.7's. Her full waterline length and wide transom are akin to features seen on open 60's and her quality Beneteau interior offers comfortable and practical accommodation, good dining options, a fully enclosed head and dedicated nav station. She has been regularly updated and cared for and anti-fouled and polished March 2014. Contact YOTI for more information and to arrange inspection on Sydney Harbour info@yoti.com.au (02) 9960 6222.
This how to sail video will introduce the concept of tacking a sailboat. Tacking is the maneouvre required to turn the boat around by turning across the no go zone. This is a key maneouvre to understand as you learn to sail. If you plan to sail towards the wind you must be able to tack the boat effectively if you plan to make headway sailing towards the wind. This video is an introduction to tacking and provide you an insight into what to do
Teaching people I spot several mistakes that virtually everyone makes. This video is aimed to help you identify the mistakes and understand what steps to take to avoid repeating the same situation.
Ready about... ready... Lee Oh.... These are the terms you need to use to communicate between helm and crew. Practice slowly at first until you get to grips with the maneouvre. This video has the camera onboard to show you how to tack as if you are onboard the boat
Tacking can be seen as a complex maneouvre the perfect. Don't worry you will crack it. Practice the land drill and take the time to get the steps correct. This will avoid you making bad habits.
Key Learning points for learning to tack. Use these tips as a mental check list as you practice. Try to remember them all.
These key learning points are a check list I want you to try and remember. As with all sports, practice makes perfect, and to start with gybe slowly under controlled conditions in lighter wind days. Speed and agility will follow ONLY when you master the basic steps. This video is aimed to help you remember what the key learning points for gybing are
Standby to Gybe... ready.... gybe oh... These are the instructions to use to communicate in the boat. Do not confuse gybing with tacking. On the gybe the bow turns away from the wind and as the rig is under load there is ample opportunity for a swim if you do not move your weight quickly. A big safety hazard when gybing is the boom hitting your head. As the rig is under load and the sail released, the boom can travel a long way and quickly so BEWARE of the boom
