We bought a blue water sailing boat and would love to give you guys a guided boat tour in this video. We spotted a gem of a sailboat for sale in Portland, Maine. A progeny of the classic Herreshoff 12.5, this Joel White-designed Haven 12.5 is for sale for $25,000. It was built around 2009 at the Maine Maritime Museum school. It's a little easier to manage (trailerable with a centerboard) and roomy enough for a family to jump in and go for a day sail. This one was used for about one week before being put into storage for ten years so it's in like-new condition. It's impossible to miss this catamaran: there’s an arch that extends the coachroof all the way to the forestay fitting, bows whose slope is strongly reversed, and huge mirror windows! Agnieszka Bona, responsible for the design of this new boat built in Szczecin, in the northwest of Poland, makes no secret of the fact that the main idea of the Wave 50 project is to be noticed... the famous arch can also disappear if a client wishes. But in the end, this superstructure, however unusual it may be, is not unwelcome - it provides shade to the forward cockpit without obscuring the view of the water from the helm station, which is set very far aft on a cantilevered flybridge. After the surprise of the first visit, you discover a well-designed sail maneuvering station where you aren’t forced to get on your hands and knees to operate the winches. As for the interior, it too is certainly audacious but ultimately attractive. The Wave 50 is available in a power version and a Wave 60 is also offered. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. The Guy Couach Flybridge Motor Yacht at 15 meters is a classic design. This boat is in very good condition and has rarely been used. A well-found deep V planing hull powered by twin Diesel engines to twin high-speed three-blade propellers on a conventional shaft drive system. Dafür haben wir uns einen Katamaran gekauft, mit dem wir Anfang März von der französischen Atlantikküste auf die Barfußroute gestartet sind. Seit vielen Jahren war eine Weltumsegelung mein (Hannes) großer Traum, den ich berufsbedingt zum Renteneintrittsalter verwirklichen wollte. Manchmal kommt das Leben aber anders als man plant. Im Frühjahr dieses Jahrs erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich. Plan International ist ein internationales Kinderhilfswerk. Auf unserer Reise wollen wir nicht nur in Traumbuchten chillen sondern Programmländer von Plan besuchen und die dortige Arbeit dokumentieren. This week we find a lovely, young classic cutter wooden sailboat for sale. You might remember a small gaff-rigged wooden boat we toured a few months ago (Ep 32 https://youtu.be/KQToFXrp-a4) . She was built by Paul Rollins, a Maine wooden boat builder who has created some gorgeous and sturdy boats in his day. We spotted something under a tarp outside his workshop, and came to find out it was a Bud Macintosh-designed boat he built for himself. We tracked it down to South Portland, Maine where restoration specialist, Robert Blood, is in the process of sprucing up her hull and really making her sparkle... and ready to sell. She's a fantastic example of craftsmanship and old-world charm.
