This Excess 15 presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2021 is a prototype equipped with two Torqeedo engines of 50 kW and two BMW i3 batteries. Full test Excess 15 vs Lagoon 50 in Multihulls World #171 https://www.multihulls-world.com/review/catamaran/lagoon-50-vs-excess-15 As part of their “Excess Lab”, an online platform that brings together Excess’ experts directly with existing and potential owners, Excess Catamarans unveiled at the Cannes Yachting Festival an Excess 15 powered by the Deep Blue Hybrid system from electric motor manufacturer Torqeedo. This system comprises a pair of 50 kW electric motors combined with two high-capacity Deep Blue BMW i3 lithium-ion batteries, two generators, and a hydro-generation system for use when under sail. We were able to go aboard the boat and see the power of the motors - 10 knots at top speed - and the astonishing torque provided, even at low rpm. No more vibrations, but on the other hand, the motors are quite noisy – as is the hydrogeneration mode. During testing, the system has delivered enough electricity to power 100% of the onboard equipment at a cruising speed of 7 to 8 knots. Phase 2 of the Excess 15 E-Lab project will be to expand solar panel area. Wir, das sind vor allem Sebastian Kummer, der bereits die Lagoon-Modelle 46 und 450 über viele tausend Meilen gesegelt ist, und ich, Jens Brambusch. Als langjähriger Monohull-Segler und Live-on-board auf einer Moody 425 war es für mich der erste Törn auf einem Katamaran. Für rund ein Drittel der Strecke war ich zudem der Skipper. I really enjoyed this 50' dream yacht for a couple reasons. One, her cockpit with the protected forward section and aft deck is not only gorgeous, but practical and really well thought out for a 60's boat. Two, her main saloon is super bright with all those big portlights letting a ton of light in. Again, this is not something you usually see in sailboats of this vintage. Combine those two things with how pretty the boat is, along with the fact that she's in bristol condition, and this is a weird boat that I really like! Here, we had an impromptu opportunity to tour a quite new Dufour 430 sailboat that was currently being chartered but for sale by the owner. It’s a nice example of a modern production boat. Not a heavy ocean sailor but a fun inshore cruiser. Fit and finish was quite good and it would make a nice way to gunkhole around the Chesapeake Bay for weekends aboard. Longer passages wouldn’t be out of the question, but the smaller size would limit room for a genset, although a jobsite type gas powered generator might work. Before we knew it we were signing up for sailing lessons and taking offshore sailing courses. Last year we started looking at boats for sale. Now, nearly 6 years later, we are proud owners of the beautiful vessel, Moon Drifter. Moon Drifter is an extremely well taken care of and maintained single owner catamaran. Her Previous owners, Ralph and Helen, purchased her brand new in 2008 and sailed her seasonally throughout the Sea of Cortez up until they handed over the lines to us in 2021. SHOULD WE BUY A RAPIDO 60 TRIMARAN TOGETHER? Based on the feedback from last episodes we just had to make this video when being out sailing a #RAPIDO60 that's for sale here in Grenada. The owner is a friend of me and we had a great sail with lots of fun. RAPIDO 60 Trimaran is the worlds fastest cruising yacht on the market today and have some impressive features and performance. I don't think you can sail faster than this in a cruising yacht with comfort, and relatively spacious and luxurious yacht for it's size. Before full-time sailing, I have sailed several seasons in the Med prior to this, and obviously also in Scandinavia. I have been traveling the world before and also been an active regatta sailor. Nachdem Mystra endlich wieder im Wasser war, mussten noch letzte Vorbereitungen für den Saisonstart getroffen werden. Großbaum und Segel mussten angeschlagen und kleine Reparaturen durchgeführt werden. Zudem hatten wir eine Nachricht des Hallenbetreibers bekommen, dass der Boden der Winterlagerhalle durch unsere Arbeiten verschmutzt wurde - also mussten wir auch dieses Malheur noch beseitigen. Zum Glück hatten wir Jan und Jessi und damit tatkräftige Unterstützung dabei! ** NOW SOLD ** Kachina is a 2008 Catalina Morgan 440 listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Pittwater. This is a high volume, solid and extremely well equipped cruising yacht. Late model large Catalina’s are rare in Australia and to find one in this condition is unique. The 440 is a Deck Saloon offering a beautiful and practical interior with a two double cabin layout with two heads. The aft cabin has easy access to the utility cabin (also accessed from the cockpit) which includes massive storage space and the option to utilise two spare berths in the form of a twin bunk. The galley is to starboard and links the cockpit and the saloon perfectly. There is both a fridge and separate freezer. The raised saloon space is comfortable and capitalises on the large Deck Saloon windows. The saloon table electrically lowers to create and additional double berth or day bed. Opposite the saloon is probably the most comfortable seating we have seen in a yacht of this size with two reclining easy chairs. Of course there is a dedicated nav and control station. Forward is the owner’s cabin with private ensuite. Storage space is abundant. Kachina has been thoughtfully and constantly upgraded since her current owners purchased her in 2018. Just some of the main items include: new rigging 2021, sails (main, genoa and Code C cruising spinnaker) all new 2020, most electrics replaced (solar panels, chart plotter, AIS, stereo, batteries, HW system, diesel heater, inverter...). There is a bow thruster, electric winch in the cockpit, and impressively a leisure furl boom in-boom furling system makes for incredibly easy short-handed sailing. The yacht is powered by a 75Hp Yanmar shaft drive last serviced in April. The yacht was anti-fouled in February. A huge amount of recent invoices are available. Kachina is offered for sale by just her second owners who have had a change in plans. As a result we are presented with an absolutely turnkey opportunity.
