Immer wieder öffnet sich der Blick zur Luvseite der Insel, mit seiner Brandung in verschiedensten kleineren und größeren Buchten. Auf Lee ziehen sich endlose Strände hin, an denen immer wieder Dingys von den davor ankernden Yachten anlanden. Das Inselradio der Sailors Community meldet, dass aktuell vor Stocking Island visasvi von Georgetown 347 Yachten ankern - und täglich werden es mehr. In Kürze findet hier eine Fun-Regatta statt, dann werden 500 Yachten erwartet. Zeit für uns weiterzuziehen, in der Hoffnung, dass die Exumas bis Nassau vergleichsweise leer sind. Wir brechen auf in die lange Perlenkette der Exuma Islands. Die Tagesetappen sind angenehm kurz. Hinter White Cay gehen wir mit 80 cm Wasser unter dem Kiel vor Anker. Wir segeln gemeinsam um die Welt. Dafür haben wir uns einen Katamaran gekauft, mit dem wir Anfang März 2021 von der französischen Atlantikküste auf die Barfußroute gestartet sind. Seit vielen Jahren war eine Weltumsegelung mein (Hannes) großer Traum, den ich berufsbedingt zum Renteneintrittsalter verwirklichen wollte. Manchmal kommt das Leben aber anders als man plant. Im Frühjahr 2020 erhielt ich die Diagnose Morbus Parkinson. Plötzlich beschleunigte sich mein Leben erheblich, ich verkaufte mein Haus, löste den Hausrat auf und begann Berge an Schiffsausrüstung anzuschaffen. „Leinen los!“ war für Anfang März 2021geplant – und so kam es auch, trotz Corona. Brigitta war natürlich erst einmal vollkommen überrascht, obwohl eine Weltumsegelung wesentlich besser in Ihr berufliches Leben als Vorruheständlerin passte als in meins. In den letzten 6 Monaten hat Sie aber eine erstaunliche Entwicklung hinter sich gebracht und freut sich auf unser großes Abenteuer genau wie ich.
