Von hier werden täglich Kontrollfahrten unternommen. Auch können hier die direkt in Sichtweite liegenden 20 Mooringbojen am jeweiligen Vortag per Kanal 9 reserviert werden. Ein Tidenkanal führt durch eine Sandbank und zeichnet eine pittoreske Landschaft. In diesem Kanal liegen mittig die Bojen und wenn man kommt oder fährt geht es ganz schön eng zu. Da Strömung und Tide oft gegeneinander laufen, überfährt MariaNoa oft die Boje, die dann mit lautem Krachen unter einem der Kiele durchgezogen wird. So kann das nicht bleiben, so nimmt MariaNoa Schaden. Kurzerhand springe ich ins Wasser und wir fädeln die Mooringleinen nochmals direkt durch den Mooringball, sodass wir diese so kurz nehmen können, dass sie die Rümpfe schlicht nicht mehr erreicht. Das Antifouling hat einige schwere Kratzer abbekommen, das Gelcoat jedoch glücklicherweise nicht. Und nun kommt der Norder doch. Wir liegen vor Nassau vor Anker. Für heute späten Nachmittag sind Böen bis 34 kn und heftige Niederschläge angesagt. Gestern hatten wir schon mal einen Vorgeschmack, heute soll es noch heftiger werden. (Sorry Greg!!) I don't know what the rules are on this, but next time they have a boat brought in for demo, we're going to see if there is a way to list it for sale for a period of time first, just in case there is someone out there willing to bring it back to life. In OUR boat, I kind of take over the show for the week, walking away from fairing bulkheads, and focus on getting bilge paint into a few of our tucked away areas. In the master head I coat the area just behind our shower, where our watermaker will sit on the top portion, and the holding tank will sit below the counter. In our guest hull I go to work in the bilge area, sanding it and getting it ready to paint. This is one of our 'tougher to access all corners' areas, so I can definitely see why Matt gave the job to me. Just before painting we decided to switch to a barrier coat - which we did get two coats on! - but now we have to wait 5 days for that to cure before moving forward again.
