I'm helping a wonderful couple sail their boat from Baltimore to Ft Lauderdale. We've had a few issues, but thankfully, we've been able to remedy them quickly. We lost the prop upon docking in Charleston, and the main sail ripped while underway. Unfortunately, the main cannot be repaired, so it will reduce our stability, but since we'll be sailing downwind, it's not a dealbreaker. The recent Offshore Double Handed Worlds run out of Cowes and organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club suggests that this could be a successful format for the future. But the event also provided guide lines for a new way of holding keel boat racing in the future. Given the widespread concerns about the ever spiralling costs of 'big boat' racing and how future generations will be able to afford it, the Offshore Double Handed Worlds provided some interesting ideas.
