This is a post sailing recovery appropriate for all sailors. The goal of a recovery session is to be ready for your next sailing session and to decrease the risk of injury by: improving range of motion, restoring muscle tissue, and enhancing overall energy. Minimal equipment is needed for this session, including a foam roller and a band or rope. Recovery is a key part of a training plan and will directly impact your ability to perform each day. Here is the 20 min Total Body Sailing Recovery: Foam Roll Quads 1 Min/Leg Foam Roll Calves 1 Min/Leg Thoracic Extensions 1 Min Trigger Point Glutes 1 Min/Side Hamstring Stretch w/Band 1 Min/Leg Adductor Stretch w/Band 1 Min/Leg Abductor Stretch w/Band 1 Min/Leg Quadruped Cross Body Stretch 1 Min Alternating 90/90 w/ Arm Sweep 1 Min/Side Side-lying Shoulder Stretch 5 Reps/Arm Tricep/Shoulder Stretch 1 Min/Side Half Kneeling Quad Stretch 2 min/Side Complete the recovery session immediately after training, during your debrief, or as a unique session at the end of the day. With consistent recovery, you will better understand what areas frequently become out of balance or are over-compensated, thus, you will better understand how your body fatigues and where are the potential areas of injury.
