Overhyped Bora Bora? Our Honest Sailing Experience! (EP033)

Is Bora Bora really the ultimate paradise of the Society Islands? 🌴⛵️ We spent two weeks there, and since we explored the island with our own boat rather than staying in a luxury resort, our experience was naturally quite different. Honestly? For us, the Instagram hype is just that — hype. There’s a lot of tourism, restrictions everywhere, and almost everything comes at an extra cost. The underwater world is beautiful, of course, and certainly more spectacular than the Mediterranean. But watching sharks and rays being fed to create that perfect tourist experience left us with mixed feelings. And then we discovered Maupihaa Atoll. ❤️ Stunning beaches, no crowds, an incredibly kind local family, and an underwater world that took our breath away. A little piece of paradise in the middle of the Pacific — the kind of place that reminds us why we love sailing and exploring remote places so much. After nearly five months in French Polynesia, it’s time to say goodbye. We leave with full hearts, countless memories, and deep gratitude for the incredible time we’ve been lucky enough to spend here. 🌊 Join us on our sailing journey!
