Navionics | Our nautical charts are WRONG | Sailing & Travel Ep 315
There are two reasons why we're feeling stressed: 1) we're worried about the engine and not being in a position to drop the hook if anything should go wrong... 2) navigating this area is not straightforward, the nautical charts don't make sense, Navionics is wrong... In these more remote and less-visited places, we have found that Navionics data is often significantly inaccurate. The charts have taken us over land, put us at anchor in the mountains, and given us no warning of an island directly in front of SY Esper. This demonstrates why we always advocate navigating by satellite and eye alongside all the charts (electronic or paper) in the world. Meanwhile, we are visiting folks back in the UK, and we reckon there are few better ways to spend the weekend than with a bucket and spade at the English seaside...
