E238 – The Final Leg – Cairo, The Pyramids & The Suez Canal

In this bumper episode, we get an early-morning wake-up call from the Suez Canal Authority as our transit time is suddenly brought forward to 5am. We begin our journey through the canal, stopping at Ismailia Marina to refuel before continuing to our marina berth. Unfortunately, we soon discover that No Regrets has picked up some heavy oil during the passage, leaving ugly stains running down her sides. As we aren't allowed to clean the hulls ourselves, divers have to be brought in to get her looking respectable again. With the boat secure, we head into Cairo with a police escort to explore some of Egypt's incredible history. We visit the Pyramids of Giza, Salah El Din Citadel, St Marcus Church and the Zabbaleen — the "Garbage People of Cairo" — before exploring some of the ancient pyramids at Saqqara, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, Pyramid of Unas, and the Red and Bent Pyramids. Finally, after an incredible journey through Egypt, we check out and return to the Suez Canal to complete our transit, emerging into the Mediterranean Sea.
