Driving British sailing since 1999

A timeline documenting how Volvo has been a driving force behind sailing in the UK since 1999, supporting the grassroots to the glory elements of the sport. At the grass roots level, Volvo Car UK supports the Volvo Gill Optimist Championships, the RYA Youth Programme and RS Sailing Associations. In 2013, Volvo launched the 'Volvo Sailing Academy' -- a long-term plan to encourage new people into the sport. Volvo Car UK has supported the top UK sailing talent since 2001. Team Volvo, the group of top inspirational British athletes, has won 15 Olympic and 4 Paralympic medals (8 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze). At the start of 2013, Volvo Car UK extended their sponsorship to become the official car supplier to the entire British Sailing Team.
