Controlled Crash Ep239
This is so gross. We are talking about the growth on our jumper cable we use for lightning protection on Isabella. Karen is glad we're raising the dinghy before things start to grow on its bottom. There was so much floating marsh grass, possibly Spartina alterniflora, around the dinghy. We're moving our boat to another marina to address our packing gland issue. There they will be able to pull us out of the water if need be. Our docking aka controlled crash went well and we are just waiting for our appointment. Meanwhile there was a lot of birds flying around. Especially pelicans. There are many superyachts at this marina. One of them, a 223 footer, charters for $650,000 USD/week plus expenses. Believe it or not the captain can receive 10% to 20% of the base charter rate as a tip and in turn he or she will distribute to the crew. We also saw a beautiful 163 foot aluminum sailboat with 3 cockpits and 2 incredibly large masts. They finally lifted our boat for the packing gland repair. Stay tuned for what happened. Many thanks to our subscribers!! If you haven't already please subscribe. We live aboard S/V Isabella, a Super Mikado 56 built in France by C.N.S.O. (Constructions Nautiques du Sud-Ouest). Isabella is a 1990/2010 sailing ketch with four private cabins, an engine room, a salon, a galley, and three heads with two separate shower stalls. Her fiberglass hull is designed for bluewater cruising, with an excellent capsize ratio of 1.68 and a very good comfort ratio of 42.19. She is equipped with Garmin / Raymarine electronics and hydraulic steering. Isabella was designed by naval architect Michel Bigoin, who also designed Phocea. Built in 1976, the 246-foot, four-masted steel schooner was considered the world’s largest private sailing yacht until 2004.
