Sailing around the Cape Verde islands is always a challenge. The wind is almost always strong with Venturi effects near certain islands. There are currents and fierce waves. As well the coasts are rough and mean pocked with rocks and steep cliffs. It's rarely boring to sail here. My friends Julia and Sylvain were out with me and Brun. Julia has good sailing experience from France, but none here. At one point we were motor sailing to get around a rocky and the waves churned here stomach. So once around the point we gave here the helm. She never mentioned seasickness again. And at the end of our journey she had to manage the channel. But can she pass the Sao Vicente Canal test?
