Bringing Sisi Home How a Pandemic Forced us to Leave the Caribbean COVID-19 Repatriation

Like many other sailors, the corona pandemic hit us hard during the Caribbean racing season. All races were cancelled, the islands were placed under lockdown and we couldn't get any crew to or from the Caribbean. While most of our crew had left St. Maarten before the travel bans kicked in, two team members had stayed on the boat. However, we soon realised that the crisis wouldn't just pass within a few weeks and we started looking for a crew to sail back to Europe. Eventually, we found 6 other stranded European sailors and the long journey to Scheveningen (The Netherlands) could begin... Alle Regatten wurden gestrichen, über die Inseln wurde der Reihe nach ein Lockdown verhängt und wir konnten Crewmitglieder weder in die Karibik, noch hinaus bringen. Während die meisten unserer Crewmitglieder St. Maarten noch vor den Reisebeschränkungen verlassen konnten, blieben zwei Jungs bei unserem Boot. Jedoch wurde uns bald klar, dass die Krise nicht in nur wenigen Wochen vorübergehen würde. So machten wir uns auf die Suche nach einer Crew, um das Schiff zurück nach Europa bringen zu können. Schließlich fanden wir 6 weitere in der Karibik gestrandete europäische Segler und die lange Überfahrt nach Scheveningen (Niederlande) konnte losgehen...
