Acorn to Arabella - Journey of a Wooden Boat - Episode 86: Boring!

Need to drill a big hole?... BORING! That's right, we are final to the point of boring out the stern post for our prop shaft. We were very much looking forward to this set up and seeing how this works. We put together a setup that included a long boring bar with multiple different cutter attachments we could switch in and out then mounted that bar through the drilled hole in the stern post, sandwiched between two bearings to guide it. Once that was set up we built a sled to carry the Hole Hawg drill we used to power the boring bar. The whole setup worked like a charm! With that done, we were able to get back to working on scarfing up the next plank as well as shaping the stern post to accept the cutless bearing housing.
