This week aboard SV GOAT, we leave Sicily’s main island behind and sail into some of the most breathtaking waters in the Mediterranean—the Aeolian Islands, a chain of volcanic wonders rising dramatically from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Unsere fettgeschmierte Welle hat innen im Stevenrohr kein Wasser weil sie achtern mit doppelten Simmeringen (Walkerseele) abgedichtet ist. Die Welle selbst ist 2 fach bronzegelagert, also starr und läuft auf einem Fettfilm, da das ganze Stevenrohr mit Fett gefüllt ist und die Stopfbuchse im inneren nur dazu dient um das Fett im Stevenrohr zu halten. Durch diese Konstruktion kann es unmöglich zu einem Wassereinbruch kommen. Nicht einmal wenn die Welle brechen sollte, da diese in einem solchen Fall am demontierbaren Skeg ansteht. Die Propellerwelle mündet am vorderen Ende in ein Drucklager, welches den Wellenschub ohne die geringste Vibration auf den Schiffskörper überträgt. Über eine "Centaflex Agm" Kupplung mit 2 Gummischeiben wird die Welle mit dem hydraulischen Getriebe ("ZF Hurth 25") elastisch verbunden. Somit können die Vibrationen der Maschine nicht auf den Schiffskörper bzw. der Welle, übertragen werden. Diese Konstruktion ist die sicherste, leider auch die aufwändigste Methode und wird an sich nur im professionellen und militärischen Bereich verwendet. In der Freizeitschifffahrt aus Kostengründen kaum.

For years we've been dreaming of a circumnavigation. With enough experience and the boat we purchased specifically for this purpose, a Wauquiez 40 Pilot Saloon, it was supposed to be possible! But six years after our launch and already 20,000 nautical miles under our belt, the pandemic "caught" us in the Caribbean, just before our passage through the Panama Canal!

Três catamarãs atravessando a Barra de Cananeia rumo a Ilha do Bom Abrigo

요트 위에서 보내는 하루는 늘 작은 긴장과 설렘이 공존한다. 오늘은 요트에 EPIRB를 설치했다. 부디 쓰지 않기를 바라는 장치지만, 바다 위에서는 반드시 필요한 존재다. 기존에 있던 거치대를 활용해 달기로 했고, 위치를 맞추어 고정할 준비를 했다. 하지만 구멍을 뚫는 과정에서 브라켓이 생각보다 단단해 더 튼튼한 드릴 비트가 필요했다. 결국 장비를 챙겨 집으로 가져가 구멍을 뚫고, 잠시 우리 댕댕이들과 놀며 숨을 고르는 시간도 가졌다. 다시 돌아와 볼트를 하나하나 조여가며 장착을 마쳤다. 태양광 패널 때문에 선택지는 많지 않았지만, 결국 선미 바깥쪽에 달기로 했다. 하늘이 잘 보이고 비상 상황에서도 바로 꺼낼 수 있는 자리였다. 설치가 끝난 뒤, 튼튼히 고정된 EPIRB를 바라보니 묘한 안도감이 밀려왔다. 겉으론 작은 장치 하나지만, 필요할 때는 생명을 지켜주는 신호탄이 될 것이다. 오늘도 바다는 고요했다.

In this episode, we remain in Phuket awaiting our shipping date to the Mediterranean Sea. While here, lots of little things happen. Including Boat Maintenance Projects like: - Fixing the air conditioner raw water pump; - Troubleshooting some generator issues; - Inspecting and cleaning out the main fuel tanks; - Sewing stern shades; - Repainting the clear coat on the carbon fibre longeron. Kevin did some training, including the Approved Engine Course #1 (AEC1), and Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (PSCRB) courses. And we explored a bit of Phuket, visiting the Cashew Nut Factory, attending a quiz night at the Green Man pub, and touring by scooter. Thanks for following! Dans un golfe caressé d’un filet d’air, Traditions, Modernes et Classiques pouvaient affiner leurs derniers réglages. Au large, les 32 classiques venus de Théoule-sur-mer d’où était donné le départ de la Coupe d’Automne du Yacht Club de France, trait d’union entre les Régates Royales de Cannes et les Voiles de Saint-Tropez, ne tardaient pas à arriver. Les 245 voiliers invités sont ce soir à pied d’œuvre dans le port de Saint-Tropez et ce sont les Maxis et les Modernes qui ouvriront le bal demain.

Glück und Unglück liegen nah bei einander...Wir sind kurz nach Poros gefahren weil wir den Kurs von Serifos besser anlegen konnten und die Strecke etwas kürzer war. Das ist uns nicht schwer gefallen denn Poros ist und bleibt schön.. Dann ging südlich nach Ermioni. Unser Windgeber wartete dort seit Mai auf uns (Garantiefall) Wir hatten Glück...al les hat super geklappt...einen Platz am Steg bekommen(wichtig), die Monteure waren pünktlich und sehr gut...wieder zurück nach Poros Pech...Unsere Freunde sitzen in den Kykladen leider fest und wir werden sie nicht mehr hier treffen können....und... wir haben einen Schaden an der Backbordseite...
