Continuing my rehabilitation of a 1987 Precision 16 sailing dinghy by repairing the fiberglass in the transom and replacing and resealing the drain plug. I use MarineTex and 3M 5200 sealant for this repair. The Precision 16 is a lightweight Stephen Seaton-designed un-ballasted centerboard sailing dinghy with a planing hull manufactured from 1982 until the mid 90s. ► Founded just five years ago, the Astus Boat Club association now brings together around 60 Astus trimaran owners and has recently introduced a Trophy system rewarding participation and results in various regattas open to multihulls rated under the Multi 2000 rule. ► In this context, Pierre Breban, president of the association, invited me to take part as media crewman aboard the Golfe Morbihan Tour, an event particularly technical when it comes to current management. Currents can be extremely strong in this area, while numerous counter-currents can be found close to beaches, headlands, and rocks. ► So I joined Jean-Hubert Pommois, head of the shipyard, aboard his Astus 26.5, together with Jérôme, our helmsman. Organized by the SRV (Société des Régates de Vannes), this regatta is unique in that it brings together highly diverse fleets: classic rigs, foiling boards, monohull cruisers, dinghies, and of course cruising multihulls - 63 entries in total! ► Six Astus boats were entered in the cruising multihull category: four Astus 20.5s, one older-generation Astus 22, in addition to our Astus 26.5.
