This week, we begin fitting the Vetus hatch frames that will eventually become the windows and emergency exits for our 44-foot performance cruising catamaran. Although the hatches themselves won't be permanently installed until we're much closer to launch, now is the time to make sure every frame fits perfectly. Taking the time to get the alignment right today will help ensure a clean look, proper gasket compression, and a watertight seal for years to come. We also complete another major milestone on our hybrid propulsion system by running one of the main cable bundles across the boat, connecting the electrical panel to the equipment on the opposite hull. It's one more behind-the-scenes project that brings us another step closer to powering up the boat. To wrap up the week, we take a short break from the build to join our friends Ryan and Sophie aboard their beautiful home-built wooden Rhode Runner for an afternoon cruise around Annapolis. After months of building, it was a welcome reminder of why we're putting so much care into every detail of our own boat. ⛵ Follow along as we continue building our dream catamaran from the ground up! --- ⚓ Vetus Marine https://vetus.com/usa/ 🌎 Odyssey Sailing Festival – Sail Greece with Us! https://www.theoceancruisers.com/odyssey ⚓ Follow Our Build Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/mjsailing Website: https://www.mjsailing.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mattandjessicasailing Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mjsailing 🎵 Music licensed through Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com #BoatBuilding #Catamaran #Sailing #DIYBoat #Vetus #HybridBoat #MJsailing
Innovation, Evolution and respect for the Environment: the ARCADIA 115' is equipped with solar panels that generate some of the on-board electricity, and a wastewater treatment system. With its NPL semiplaning hull and diesel-electric hybrid engine resulting in a fuel consumption of just 140 liters per hour at a cruising speed of around 15 knots, this is one of the most economical yachts of its generation. Non è stato facile arrivare a questa tappa, Gaetano ha dovuto far fronte a una forte depressione e usare tutte le sue forze per superare gli ostacoli di un mare che come dice il nostro navigatore: "Siamo a casa sua". The melting pot is completed and starts to earn its keep as I begin the melting and pouring of approx 1.3 tons of lead for the ballast keel. Alanouwoly makes an appearance as Hazel and I do a bit of winter upgrading to get her ready for further adventures. This is the story of the building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk schooner-rigged cruising sailboat. The videos are a week-by-week record of the build as it progresses and aim to show as much detail as possible of the various aspects of the build. These videos take a lot of time and effort to make, in what is already a time-intensive project. Your support in watching, subscribing and sharing these videos is very much appreciated. Being in a car accident is never a good start to a day. Luckily the motor bike driver that ran into the back of us only had scratches and bruises. Our new friend that ran into us was on his way back from getting his first Covid vaccine shot. All in all everything ended up good and I hope his trip to get his second vaccine shot was way less eventful than his first. I mentioned in other videos how doing one boat repair seems to lead down a rabbit hole of other repairs. Our electronics upgrade started with Matahom not being able to display wind speed. Our original ST60 Raymarine Tri Data had three dashes for everything. When I tried to remove it, the front panel cracked from years of sun and salt. So we decided to upgrade to the newer unit. In addition we had an open space in our cockpit dash so we went with two of them instead of trying to figure out some other way to fill in the hole from some distance past removed instrument. Which then lead to our auto pilot panel looking outdated and not matching. So yeah, we replaced that as well even though it worked fine. All of that goes in and guess what, still no wind speed. Check all the wiring one more time before going up the mast to replace the anemometer (wind speed indicator). All checked out so up the mast we go. But 1/2 up the mast we decide a radar should go on. And we also need AIS as it is required in many countries in SE Asia. So yeah there you have it, wind speed display issues leads to new radar, instruments and AIS. If anyone is looking for a company in Phuket that does awesome work and doesn't gouge on pricing, like most places here, let me know and I will hook you up with Monrak's information. He will be doing our solar and new charging / inverter install as well. Finally Captain Yen and the 3.5 meter tide here at G and T don't get along well. We got his very heavy dingy in the water a few times prior but this time the tide dumped it as high up the beach as possible. Captain King lends a hand and shows us that pure force doesn't win out over resourcefulness. We hope you enjoy the video. We really thank you guys for the recent growth of subscribers. We are very excited to get to 1000 subs so we can monetize monetize channel and start doing the charity work we are anxious to get started on.
In this video we show how to trim a Genoa and set the car lead position. Genoa trim is particularly important on Genoa-driven masthead boats, but the same principles also apply to trimming jib sails on fractional mainsail-driven boats. The cars shown in this video are from Garhauer Marine (www.garhauermarine.com) but similar models are also available from other manufacturers including but not limited to Barton (www.bartonmarine.com), Harken (www.harken.com), Lewmar (www.lewmar.com), Ronstan (www.ronstan.com). and Selden (www.seldenmast.com). We arrive at this anchorage that has a great atmosphere - it feels like a holiday destination for the locals. This stunning old town which we couldn't access, was perched on the end of the breakwall that had a walking track over the headland. Family friendly with parks, restaurants along the shore line and beautiful red pebbled beaches. The kids made friends with a local boy which helped fill their cups, and ease the home-sickness. Sveti Stefan holds lovely family memories for us here. Want early access to our videos? With that in mind, I decided to pass on to viewers of this channel information WHAT EFFECT THE WAR IN THE UKRAINE IS HAVING ON THE YACHTING INDUSTRY.

The painters have finished faring the deck and the head painter is keen to crack on with the Awlgrip 545 undercoat. There's still a bit to do with the deck boxes and toe rail but we've learnt to let them get on with a job as soon as they can. If you like colour, then you're gonna love our heads doors!
