I went down to an open day at Landau Marine in Southampton as a sailor, only to discover that their new premises are on the site where the first Spitfires were built in WWII. They had a Rolls Royce Merlin engine running - the engine which powered the Spitfire, the Hurricane, the Mosquito and the Lancaster bomber amongst others.
