Doch wir haben einen Schatten, einen uniformierten Schatten, der uns auf Schritt und Tritt beäugt. Wahrscheinlich aus Angst, wir könnten Schleuser sein. Aufgrund der Wirtschaftskrise und des politischen Regimes, versuchen viele Kubaner das Land zu verlassen. Am nächsten Tag offenbart uns der Grenzschutz, dass wir die Bucht verlassen müssen. Wir sollen im benachbarten Pilón ankern, wo der Grenzschutz eine Station hat. Der kleine Abstecher erweist sich als Glücksgriff, Pilón ist eine hübsche Stadt und der Ankerplatz, auch bei starkem Ostwind, wider Erwarten gut geschützt. We weren't planning to be here this long. The seasons are changing quickly and with it comes cold temperatures and short days. Everything we own is in two storage containers that are little more than metal boxes. These will certainly have plenty of condensation during the cold months and that can lead to mold. They are also a poor place to keep temperature sensitive supplies like paint and resin. In this episode we're moving our belongings into climate controlled storage. La mar de popa parece que te ayuda. Te hace planear, va a tu favor, te empuja, te hace volar. Pero a su vez hace que cambies bruscamente tu rumbo sin avisar. Cuando entra por la popa, hace que ésta se alce y la proa, concretamente el pie de roda, hace de timón y en pocos segundos te puede voltear hasta 180 grados. A veces incluso puedes volcar. Obviamente con olas muy grandes o con embarcaciones pequeñas. Es una metáfora de la vida en sí misma. Hay que caminar por la vida con paso seguro pero vigilante. En cualquier momento todo puede cambiar y abocarnos a una tragedia. The Hanse 460 could be one of the most interesting cruising yachts on the market today. She's got an incredible interior layout that would even please those stepping across from a motor yacht. However the real excitement is on deck with the huge cockpit that can be fully protected from the sun and wind which transforms the experience available to those on deck into a much mure comfortable day out - true luxury sailing in my opinion. Near the town of Karlovasi on Samos, we discovered a small chapel called Agios Nikolaos Chapel. It is often used for weddings because of its picturesque location on a cliff, overlooking the sunset. We parked our bikes and took a look inside the small chapel. We also regularly come across the name “Agios Nikolaos” during our travels through Greece; it refers to Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of sailors.

Separado, morando sozinho num pequeno barraco, com os filhos morando muito distante (dois no Canadá e a caçula em Paraty) já estava aceitando a vida sedentária. Fazia minhas cainhadas diárias e dançava eventualmente. O restante do tempo era ocupado com leitura, rede social e televisão. Em 2022 fui visitar seus filhos no Canadá e meu filho mais velho tinha comprado um pequeno veleiro para navegar no lago de Montreal. Então, num passeio nessa pequena embarcação, meu filho iniciou um diálogo mais ou menos assim: - Velho! Você já foi um grande aventureiro por que não faz mais uma aventura? - Que aventura, cara! – respondi. - Vir de Veleiro do Brasil até o Canadá. Você precisa sair de casa. Precisa de objetivos de vida. - Você está louco? Nunca naveguei e não tenho dinheiro para comprar um veleiro! – retruquei. - Você não tem uma Previdência Privada? - Sim. Tenho. Mas ela é para quando eu ficar velho. É para minha saúde – respondi. - Mas você já não está velho? (emitiu uma sonora gargalhada). Então você retira esse dinheiro e compra um veleiro. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros. Depois você vende o veleiro e repõe a grana. A sugestão do filho foi como um trauma mental para seu velho pai. A partir desse dia aprender sobre velas tornou-se minha obsessão. Tudo na na minha vida foi relacionado à navegação. Comecei a devorar livros e assistir todo tipo de vídeo no YouTube. No primeiro semestre de 2023 tirei a habilitação da Marinha para navegar em lagos (pré-requisito para as demais). No segundo semestre consegui a carteira de Mestre Amador e, finalmente, em abril de 2024, conseguiu a mais temida e difícil prova aplicada pela Marinha do Brasil: Capitão Amador. O material de estudo para essa prova foi enorme. Vários livros, apostilas, curso grátis no YouTube e sites pagos. Havia dias que o velho pensava que seria impossível passar na prova. Coisas estudadas era rapidamente esquecida pela memória sexagenária. A grana para compra do Veleiro estava resguardada. Era só esperar o momento oportuno. Entretanto, restava-me, ainda uma questão muito importante: equacionar os custos da viagem com sua pequena aposentadoria. A conclusão foi que a grana seria insuficiente, principalmente quando as despesas fossem em outra moeda. Para piorar, descobriu que chegando ao Canadá, seria muito difícil voltar no mesmo caminho, tendo em vista que existe uma corrente marítima contrária. O caminho de volta mais fácil teria que ser pela Europa e África. Ou seja, gastar em euros. O visto para entrada em cada ilha ou país corresponderá a um quarto da minha renda, sem contar comida, óleo diesel e manutenção no veleiro tudo em dólar ou Euro. Apesar dos estudos orçamentários indicar a inviabilidade do projeto, no dia 14/10/24 mudei para um veleiro adquirido na cidade de Salvador. O planejamento da viagem estima dois anos de vida ao mar, cujo planejamento pode ser verificado nos dois primeiros vídeos do canal “Veio Doido no Mar” no YouTube. Pretendo navegar pela costa brasileira, passar pelas Ilhas do Caribe, passar pelo Canadá, Europa e África. Em torno de 18 meses viajando.
