Led by Skipper Nic and crew, our guests did it all! A spot of target shooting with our target "Lee the duck" getting off lightly with zero hits. Sunset fishing was glorious, and super fresh sashimi made and served. Everyone woke up to a stunning morning and the sun beaming on The Rock. The Penguin Dance loosened the limbs before our guests took the plunge and went for a snorkel. Kina (sea urchin) were collected, a sting ray was also spotted cruising around. Back on board and changed the group then headed to visit Waewaetorea Island. You cannot fault the stunning views of the Bay from the top! This Dufour 470 Ocean Version, "Lypi Valalo", is a great example of a very well equipped 47-foot sailing yacht perfectly suited for relaxed family cruising, extended bluewater passages, or spirited sailing. She has a sleek vacuum infused GRP hull -metallic blue wrapped-, nearly flush teak-laid decks, a broad stern, and a huge teak laid cockpit. "Lypi Valalo" is fitted with a German mainsheet system with Lazy Bag and Lazy Jacks, Elvström EPEX membrane fully battened main sail and genoa, gennaker, and a never used self-tacking Jib installation. A new boom vang, integrated bowsprit, and electric winches complete the setup, allowing confident sail handling with minimal crew. She is, furthermore, equipped with a 75hp saildrive diesel engine with low engine hours, retractable bow- and stern thruster, 4-bladed folding propeller, a Fischer Panda 6.5kW generator with just 70 running hours, chargers, inverters, solar panels, and a complete Raymarine navigation package with radar and AIS. Additional highlights include a never used water maker, tender with outboard, stainless steel retractable davits, carbon steering wheels, and more. The cockpit has been cleverly designed for comfort and functionality: e.g. the steps up to the side deck, located just forward for each wheel so you don’t need to clamber over the coamings, a multitude of lockers, the two-section bimini, which allows the helmsman to see the rig, the drop-leaf table with built-in fridge, and a welcoming lounge area between the two wheels. And then we have not mentioned yet the transom that electrically lowers to become a huge teak laid bathing platform. And when this bathing platform is folded down you can use Dufour’s trademark: an outdoor galley with plancha and sink. Below deck, the emphasis on comfort continues. When you descend, you will be pleasantly surprised. The saloon is very spacious, and tall guests will appreciate the high overhead clearance. "Lypi Valalo’s" interior is fitted out with a Dometic reverse cycle air-conditioning system with three units for the master cabin, the saloon and the two guest cabins, while fresh air and light generously pour through the numerous side windows and overhead hatches. To starboard is a large dining table with sofas that can seat up to 8 guests. Furthermore, an additional sofa to port, a TV that rises discreetly from the starboard bulkhead, and various lockers and drawers. The transverse galley across the forward end of the saloon offers extensive countertop space and is equipped with a 3-burner gas cooker and oven, twin deep sinks, two-drawer fridge, and a microwave. The owner’s cabin forward features a large double bed, various lockers and shelves, and a private en-suite split into two rooms: to starboard, the electric toilet, and to port, a spacious shower. The two guest cabins are located aft and are fitted out with a large double bed, lockers and shelves. Both cabins share the second bathroom with manual toilet, wash basin and shower. Ho aperto la finestra ed era il vento a scriverne le parole. Era una melodia incalzante di tamburi e cornamusa. Un tempo anch’io scrivevo parole tra le righe della mia anima. Le affidavo al canto dell’usignolo, al ritmo continuo dell’acqua sulla roccia e all’eco per farle giungere fino a te. Era l’età in cui giocavamo ad inventarci il giorno ed indossarlo finché la notte non sopraggiungeva. Potevamo ammirare lo spettacolo del sole, ora dopo ora, accompagnato da uccelli e da nuvole disegnate. I tuoi occhi erano del colore della sabbia e del mare, più mi guardavi e più entravi dentro i miei, colorati dalla pace della notte. Quando non avevamo più niente da dirci, ci hanno sempre pensato loro. Erano quelli i momenti in cui le parole non avevano più importanza. Mi è sempre piaciuto scrivere con l’inchiostro nero della notte quando si avvicina. Ogni parola è stata versata ma senza ottenere altro risultato che la certezza di essere andato alla deriva, tra promesse sussurrate e la luce cangiante del mattino che entra senza bussare. Anche se la mia mano ora è stanca di scrivere, il mio cuore è giovane e la mia mente lo seguirà in eterno, come sempre ha fatto. In this Episode we depart from Cartagena Marina with our 1979 Contest 36 and sail the Balearic islands of Rormentera, Ibiza and Mallorca. We explore the islands and get a visit from a superyacht. When going on an overnight sail from west to east Mallorca we get our first experience with catabatic winds. We travel with the Scabby Monohull Kids boat group which grows and grows as the weeks go on. We get our watermaker delivered by our friend Melle in his Eagle dayboat from Leonardo Yachts.
