We depart Stromboli on route to Panerea and are rewarded with breathtaking views of the volcano. Unfortunately, our stay among the Aeolian islands is short due to forcasted high winds in the area of the islands and through the Strait of Messina. The next day is our passage through the Strait where we narrowly miss Charybdis and Scilla and find a breath wind that carries us down the coast of Sicily. We are enchanted by the coastline of Sicily with its dense mountainside villages. Arriving in Taormina, we are happy to find what appears to be a welcome anchorage but suddenly take two hits to the hull from what sounded like BB gun fire as we looked for an anchor spot close to some abandoned buildings. We immediately go out, far and deep and check for damage as evening approaches. In this particular spot, we don't feel comfortable leaving the boat and plan on leaving the following morning.

In this week's episode, I go back to the beginning of the season where I arrive at the marina to find an unexpectedly breezy day. While the forecast called for gusts below 15 mph, it was very windy when I arrived. Looking back at the weather data for the day, it was gusting well into the 20s all afternoon with a maximum gust of 28 mph. Since I had already made the long drive, I decided to make the best of it and head out onto the lake under a double-reefed mainsail only. I've solo sailed in these conditions many times and knew the boat would be able to handle it with a reefed mainsail. It was slow going, but as they say: "A bad day of sailing beats a good day of work!" Throughout the video I share tips, thoughts and observations about sailing in heavy winds under mainsail only. This day was a perfect example of the frustrations, challenges and excitement sailors face when sailing in the unpredictable winds of high-altitude mountain lakes. Welcome back aboard Moor R & R! Episode 25 We’ve landed in Lombok ✨ Picked up the car and pointed it north, heading straight for the heart of the island. This leg of our journey takes us through Lombok’s remote centre — winding roads, lush rainforest, quiet villages, and landscapes that feel beautifully untouched. Our first stop was Tetebatu, where friendly locals welcomed us with warm smiles and not great English. We explored the Monkey Forest, wandered through emerald rice terraces, and discovered a magical hidden waterfall tucked deep in the jungle. Some of the roads we travelled definitely didn’t feel like they were made for a car… but we trusted Google Maps anyway 😅 With plenty of wrong turns and getting lost more than once, the adventure only got better. Along the way, we stumbled across a stunning blue lake that stopped us in our tracks. After days of rain, we continued on to Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls. The power of the water was incredible — thundering, alive, and absolutely beautiful. Nature at its wildest. With memories full and the road still calling, we set our sights west, ready for the next chapter of our Lombok journey. In this video, I look back at Episode 28, a very early moment in the preparations for my solo circumnavigation in The Netherlands. It is April and still very cold in The Netherlands, but I cannot wait to make my miles on my new boat. The day starts at 5:30 AM, with plans and preparations for a solo tour around North Holland which means that I solosail at sea for the first time. As the wind builds beyond force 5, I choose backup and set sail together with my husband Mark. Fresh bread, strong winds, and an early departure set the tone. What follows is an 11-hour upwind sail toward Enkhuizen—locks, freighters, reefs in the mainsail, and winds up to 27 knots. This is the first video of my new series where I show you guys how I spec up different lines. In this video I start out with a fun challenging project, building up Runner Tails for a TP 52. Im using Marlow Ropes MGP PBO/Vectran blended cover with a dyneema D-12 78 core. I use Kingfish Mafioli Dyneema chafe sleeve at the splice and the first 13' and then I finish it up with a light weight Kingfisher mafioli Swiftcord tail. There are many ways how to do this, this is how I build my runners for a boat of this caliber. As well I am a trained and certified rigger, so just because you watched my video does not make your certified or trained.
