First sail after falling off my boat two winters ago! Feels great but diesel is not liking it right now. Sun shining with about 6 to 8 kts wind makes a nice comfortable sail to get back into it and prepare for long distance sailing again.

Sailing Free Spirit. Today we take out the broken and old Fireplace that was put in the boat back in 1974. We have deemed this a fire hazard and since there was several pieces of tile that were missing, we removed it. It gave us a run for our money. Took Nancy a full day to just remove the screws, only to find out that there were more screws holding in place… Andy finally took his turn and gave it a good whack! Also, tackled putting in the first electrical panel so we can start to figure out and plan for usage needed. Nancy does her attempt at making the final cockpit cushions and pillows… She is still learning (No, I can’t cut straight at all) but given what little sewing experience there is they came out great. It was getting frustrating but this is a learning process for me. As I continue to do more sewing, I am sure they will be better. Hey it works for us and we have more creature comforts on the boat. After the most incredible 5 months of summer and into the winter months, it was time to have one last sail for the year! We needed to sail from Nydri to Preveza, which would normally only take a couple of hours. However, with the Lefkada opening bridge closed, we had to take the long way around the island! Snorkelling, randos et plongées. La dernière plongée j'ai testé des réglages avec la GoPro, ça m'a permis d'utiliser correctement les filtres lors du montage et d'obtenir une qualité plus homogène. In this week's episode, I finish out my sailing season with a half-day of sailing before taking the boat out of the water. It was the best weather forecast for the week, but turned out rainy, grey and stormy. At one point, I was hit on the beam by a squall and a 28 mph gust. I was flying full sails (fully canvassed) and was nearly knocked down. I quickly spun the boat around through the wind and went straight into a hove-to position on a port tack. Unfortunately, my reefing lines are all on the startboard side, so I was unable to reef the boat on a port tack. The waves and white caps built up quickly, so I took down the sails and headed back to the marina to let the storm pass. Overall, not the ending to the season I was hoping for.
