SHALIMAR II is a 27 meter Pershing 90 with a full refit in 2018. Her interior design leaves no one indifferent, very much in keeping in sync with the island of Ibiza, where the boat is located. A lover of Pershing’s, her owner previously owned a Pershing 72, SHALIMAR I, and decided to go for the larger model to increase the capacity of accommodation and service on board. The crew, coming from SHALIMAR II, knows the islands of Ibiza and Formentera so well that they can show you places that nobody knows and also book tables in restaurants and clubs with impossible waiting lists. Separado, morando sozinho num pequeno barraco, com os filhos morando muito distante (dois no Canadá e a caçula em Paraty) já estava aceitando a vida sedentária. Fazia minhas cainhadas diárias e dançava eventualmente. O restante do tempo era ocupado com leitura, rede social e televisão. Em 2022 fui visitar seus filhos no Canadá e meu filho mais velho tinha comprado um pequeno veleiro para navegar no lago de Montreal. Então, num passeio nessa pequena embarcação, meu filho iniciou um diálogo mais ou menos assim: - Velho! Você já foi um grande aventureiro por que não faz mais uma aventura? - Que aventura, cara! – respondi. - Vir de Veleiro do Brasil até o Canadá. Você precisa sair de casa. Precisa de objetivos de vida. - Você está louco? Nunca naveguei e não tenho dinheiro para comprar um veleiro! – retruquei. - Você não tem uma Previdência Privada? - Sim. Tenho. Mas ela é para quando eu ficar velho. É para minha saúde – respondi. - Mas você já não está velho? (emitiu uma sonora gargalhada). Então você retira esse dinheiro e compra um veleiro. Comece a estudar, assistir vídeos e ler livros. Depois você vende o veleiro e repõe a grana. A sugestão do filho foi como um trauma mental para seu velho pai. A partir desse dia aprender sobre velas tornou-se minha obsessão. Tudo na na minha vida foi relacionado à navegação. Comecei a devorar livros e assistir todo tipo de vídeo no YouTube. No primeiro semestre de 2023 tirei a habilitação da Marinha para navegar em lagos (pré-requisito para as demais). No segundo semestre consegui a carteira de Mestre Amador e, finalmente, em abril de 2024, conseguiu a mais temida e difícil prova aplicada pela Marinha do Brasil: Capitão Amador. O material de estudo para essa prova foi enorme. Vários livros, apostilas, curso grátis no YouTube e sites pagos. Havia dias que o velho pensava que seria impossível passar na prova. Coisas estudadas era rapidamente esquecida pela memória sexagenária. A grana para compra do Veleiro estava resguardada. Era só esperar o momento oportuno. Entretanto, restava-me, ainda uma questão muito importante: equacionar os custos da viagem com sua pequena aposentadoria. A conclusão foi que a grana seria insuficiente, principalmente quando as despesas fossem em outra moeda. Para piorar, descobriu que chegando ao Canadá, seria muito difícil voltar no mesmo caminho, tendo em vista que existe uma corrente marítima contrária. O caminho de volta mais fácil teria que ser pela Europa e África. Ou seja, gastar em euros. O visto para entrada em cada ilha ou país corresponderá a um quarto da minha renda, sem contar comida, óleo diesel e manutenção no veleiro tudo em dólar ou Euro. Apesar dos estudos orçamentários indicar a inviabilidade do projeto, no dia 14/10/24 mudei para um veleiro adquirido na cidade de Salvador. O planejamento da viagem estima dois anos de vida ao mar, cujo planejamento pode ser verificado nos dois primeiros vídeos do canal “Veio Doido no Mar” no YouTube. Pretendo navegar pela costa brasileira, passar pelas Ilhas do Caribe, passar pelo Canadá, Europa e África. Em torno de 18 meses viajando.

'Laguna' is a 2017 Lagoon 42 listed for sale exclusively with YOTI on Sydney Harbour. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/lagoon-42-laguna Commissioned in Sydney, this is the four cabin / four heads layout giving ultimate flexibility for accommodation or alternatively to create a storage space / work space. The Lagoon 42 has enjoyed huge success, being the most highly sold cruising catamaran – ever. The Lagoon 42’s design was game changing. This is such a versatile size and layout – big enough for world cruising and easy enough to handle by one or two. Stepping on board is seamless with just two wide steps onto the clear single level cockpit and then into the saloon. The helm station with comfy double seat gives ultimate visibility while remaining connected to friends and family in the cockpit. The headsail is self-tacking… just so easy. There is also an electric winch. The davits are simple, strong and hardly noticeable. 'Laguna' features the larger 57Hp Yanmar engines with folding props. There are two fridges plus freezer, all toilets are electric, a beefed up battery bank, plus the Highfield tender with outboard completes the step on and sail away package. There is also the full 600l water capacity in two tanks. Instruments are by B&G and include the plotter plus auto-pilot. 'Laguna' was slipped and anti-fouled in just May 2025.
