In this video the team at Sailing Chandlery talk about how to check your rigging to ensure its fit for sailing. It's very important to check your rigging when you have the chance, whether that's at the start of season, or at the start of an event when you're about to put your mast up and get on the water. Our top tip for checking your wire rigging is to: 1) Lay the wire out straight, ensure there are no bends or kinks 2) Check each end and each fitting for wear, bends or damage 3) Check around the fitting where it joins the wire, ensure there are no lose strands 4) Run all the way down the wire, ensure there are no wear points in the wire Here at Sailing Chandlery we have a number of different types of wire in stock in different diameters with a variety of fittings available to suit the wire and your dinghy. ► Although the Cape Town–based shipyard Voyage Yachts has produced several models such as the 480 and 580, since 2020 its range had been reduced to the very comfortable Voyage 590, whose build quality we were able to see firsthand at the yard three years ago. ► Since last July, a more compact model, the 510, has completed the range offered by this bluewater cruising specialist. Our correspondent Jonathan was able to discover this offshore catamaran, which benefits from high freeboard and well-designed aft circulation, including dock access through a cut-out in the bulwarks and lowered side decks. ► “The 510 is first and foremost a catamaran designed to accommodate a large number of people on board in well-assumed comfort,” Jonathan reports. “At nearly 16 meters long and close to 8 meters wide, this new model offers a very pleasant living space.
