A storage bonanza! Today we have transformed the outboard side of the corridor to the aft cabin. Originally this was dark, narrow and smelly. A long time ago we cleared the space by removing the diesel tank and diesel impregnated wood. We took out the door to the aft cabin and cut back the wardrobes to provide access to our new Pullman style double bed (which also allowed more light and a through view to the corridor). Now we have added big drawers (using more Ikea Trofast boxes) and shelves. With all this storage for everything we bring on the boat each time (unfortunately I keep needing my tools at home between boat visits) we will have to move so much less stuff out of the way when we want to do jobs. Plus it gives a glimpse of what is possible in the future. I also decided to build a gravel causeway to the ladder so we can get on and off the boat even after/during rain without paddling. This is our 4th short daily vlogs of our progress during this half term. Two years ago, when we bought Vida she was in a very tired and damp condition with all original equipment and fittings (much of it not working). We have removed all the gas, diesel and paraffin equipment, and are installing all electric (motor, cooking etc). All the rigging is being replaced with Dyneema and we are significantly re-working the cabins. While investigating a leak in our top deck we found a really huge hole that was repaired by what I can only describe as "bubblegum and duct tape". Only this was half chewed and no longer sticky. We repaired the issue and all is well but it too led to yet another project that led to another, that led to..., well, you get the point! lol

Our plan was to head north toward Moraira jus above Calpe. The wind prediction said light winds out of the east. WRONG! After a many hours of beating into strong head winds and waves trying to get north, we decided to go Northeast to Ibiza. Of course in the middle of the night, the wind dies and we had to motor the rest of the way. We anchored in a beautiful spot in Porroig, where we were waited for some wind to sail further around Ibiza. It didn’t look like we would have any wind soon, so we decided to motor over to Formentera. Formentera is a low island and not really protected from wind, so lets go there! First stop was “La Savina” where ferries are flying by leaving a large wake. Waves so big that our new solar shower rolled between the railing and deck and went overboard. After one night it was time to leave this place and with a little bit of wind we sailed towards a new swimming pool: “Cala Saona” where new adventures are waiting for us. Hope you enjoy this one!
