Likt en gigantiskt grön lunga breder Påskbergsskogen ut sig i centrala Varberg. Men visste du att i slutet på 1800-talet så fanns inte den här skogen som vi idag tar för självklar? Den är nämligen planterad av Småfåglarnes Vänner som vi på Varbergs Sparbank sponsrat under tre decennier mellan 1888-1921. 💡 Mannen bakom idén att plantera dessa stora mängder träd under 1800-talets andra hälft var rektorn Herman Rodhe. Han hade en övertygelse om att både människor, fågellivet och djurlivet mår väl av att ha grönska omkring sig. 🐦 Därför bildade han ”Planteringssällskapet Småfåglarnes vänner” vars medlemmar hade till uppgift att plantera och sköta anläggningen, ofta i sällskap med hans skolelever. 🧡 Redan 1888 påbörjade vi på Varbergs Sparbank vårt ekonomiska stöd till planteringssällskapet. Första tillfället med en summa av 400 kr och fram till år 1921 donerade banken sammanlagt 11 700 kr till förmån för grönskande träd, sjungande fåglar och njutande människor. Follow along this weekend as we go on a Caribbean Poker Dinghy run! This charity event raised funds for Petite Calivigny Yacht Club’s youth sailing program. There were about 80 poker players and we managed to raise $2000. The funds allow more than 20 Grenadian girls and boys to learn how to sail every Saturday. So cute. We call our little boat “Baby Bongo” and it's a different kind of boating...it does a pretty great job of zooming us around on the water. Having a dinghy is actually a really cool thing- it gets us to ​places we couldn’t get to otherwise. Lauren found her epic watermelon sun hat at a random shop in Carriacou and the knockoff Ray-Ban sunglasses were picked up in Saint George's for a steal at $5ec, lol. Ryan's pirate hat...well he got that in Israel during Purim way back before Covid times. Thanks guys so much for following along! Russ spoke of his yachting career spanning over 16 years, from leaving Australia and starting out working the ski seasons in Switzerland to captaining a Sunseeker 40 meter charter yacht. "There is a lot of glitz and fun and an amazing lifestyle, but behind all that, there is a lot of hard work, long hours and being away from home and family for extended periods, including being away from land. "There is a lot of dirty hands and groundwork to get where you are. That alone weeds out who is going to be successful, and who might last only a year or two."

De taal van de psyche bestaat uit beelden. Verbeelden is het krachtigste psychologische middel dat er bestaat. Het is immers de manier waarop de geest informatie codeert, opslaat en verwerkt. Innerlijk beeld en gedrag zijn dan ook onlosmakelijk met elkaar verbonden. Veranderingen in het beeld beïnvloeden gedrag in alle aspecten: de perceptie, de emotie, het denken, de lichamelijke processen en het concrete gedrag. Wist je dat Michael Jordan het laatste schot van zijn basketbalwedstrijden altijd eerst mentaal succesvol voorstelde, voordat hij het in het echt deed? Hij zette de kracht van visualisatie effectief in om zijn vaardigheden te verbeteren en om zijn persoonlijke records te verbreken. Veel sporters gebruiken visualisatie om obstakels te overwinnen en hun doelen te bereiken. Visualisatie blijkt echt te werken. Gedachten (en dus ook visualisaties) produceren dezelfde mentale instructies, als werkelijke acties. Anders gezegd: visualisatie heeft hetzelfde effect op je brein als echte acties. Dat zit zo: de gedachten en beelden die je creëert tijdens visualisatie, creëren (nieuwe) neurale paden. Je brein ‘vertelt’ de neuronen namelijk dat je een actie echt aan het uitvoeren bent, wat leidt tot een soort ‘gedrags-geheugen’. Door deze paden te creëren kiest je brein sneller die paden op het moment dat je de gevisualiseerde actie daadwerkelijk gaat uitvoeren. Omdat die actie al bekend is voor je brein, kan het je gedrag of prestaties verbeteren en daarmee bijdragen aan het bereiken van je doelen. Ik zou zeggen als dit je aanspreekt, ga er dan mee aan de slag. Je kunt bijvoorbeeld voor het slapengaan hiernaar luisteren en er zelfs mee in slaap vallen. Je onderbewuste neemt de informatie ook op terwijl je slaapt. Ga daarna kijken wat je ervaart en hoe het je helpt. Ook als je geen freediver bent kun je hiernaar luisteren en er heerlijk op in slaap vallen en je ontspannen. Ik ben benieuwd naar je ervaringen. Ik gebruik het zelf in ieder geval met plezier. In this episode we explore Bilbao including of course the Guggenheim Museum. We have a leisurely sail with our Contest yacht to Santander and explore the city we visited in 2009 but this time as a family. We continue to Gijon a 16 hour trip and arrive in the dark. This month Harbor Use Public Forum, we learned about the South Boston Marine MultiPort. This project will rebuild the North Jetty at the eastern end of the Seaport and improve the lay-down space around it. Revitalizing this area would allow for special cargo handling -- break-bulk, dry-bulk, and special project materials -- as well as uses that would support the offshore wind industry. Massport and the BPDA are working with this project team to create this facility. The team, which includes Childs Engineering, Nitsch Engineering, Landing Studio, Epsilon Associates, CLT Marine, and others, is working to design and implement this project. Andrew Hargens of Massport and Shelagh Mahoney of Eastern Salt and SBMMP will be presenting the project along with Dan Adams and Ed Washburn.
