Discovering Nova Scotia Atlantic Coast, visiting small fishing communities along the way .... ======================================= ABOUT ME Back in 2019 I decided I did not want to be a 9 to 5  type guy anymore.  I got fed up with this rat race like routine city life and I got hooked on the idea of sailing and living on a boat full time. But with 0 (zero) expirience that would be difficult to achieve... I took a Transport Canada course and received my first boat license... I watched tons of videos about boats and sailing on youtube and got myself registered with dozen boat related forums and groups on a facebook... In May 2020 I came across a facebook post. Sergey was looking for a crew to bring his boat to the Caribbean. I travelled 1300 km from Montreal to Halifax to join him on his boat. The trip was cancelled two months later for legitimate reasons.  Since I made my way to Nova Scotia I decided to discover this beatiful province before going back to Montreal I have not given up on my dream of sailing. May 2019 In this episode, we were just minding our business getting ready to sail to a different part of the Abacos when OUT OF NOWHERE, we see a couple bees in the cockpit. Thinking "that's odd", we go investigate... Turns out, the entire stack pack (the canvas that holds our main sail) was COVERED in bees. We tried dousing them with buckets of water = NOPE We tried swatting the stack pack = NOPE We asked the interwebs what we should do = CALL AN EXTERMINATOR? Like what? Taking matters into our own hands, we layered up in the 80 degree weather and decided to hoist the main and (in the words of Taylor Swift) "shake it off". Once the bee sitch was resolved, it's time to get the heck back to the USA. Austin comes across a bunker in the side of a mountain. He going inside to find endless tunnels through the mountains. As he goes deeper inside he starts noticing sacrificed goats in some of the rooms as he passes. Bunkers left behind from Albanias days of communism. A bunker is a defensive military fortification designed to protect people and valued materials from falling bombs, artillery, or other attacks. Bunkers are almost always underground, in contrast to blockhouses which are mostly above ground.

It was truly an unforgettable time. The locals were amazing and such good hearted people. The island had not had a celebration like this since pre-Covid. According to the locals, not even on Kingdom Day (Queen's Day) do they celebrate like they did that night. Bonaire, an island municipality of the Netherlands, lies off Venezuela’s coast in the southern Caribbean. Its reef-lined coast is protected by Bonaire National Marine Park. Eric Fleury returns with another look at boat electrical systems: Lithium, Solar, Battery Monitors and more.. Eric Fleury is an avid sailor and a licensed ABYC electrical technician. Having covered a number of the electrical basics in January, in this presentation Eric will present: • Wiring • Using a main battery switch • Fuses • Lithium conversion HOW TO • Installation of a battery monitor • Solar – in depth look Eric grew up sailing with his father and has owned a Tanzer 7.5 and now an Ontario 32 "Prince Igor". Eric has been one of the SOLO300 sailors for several summers. Having studied electronics and computers, he eventually left the corporate world to dive full time into the boating world, both for work and leisure. This presentation is part of the NSC Winter Speaker’s program, which promotes ongoing learning about all things nautical, as well as cruising and competitive sailing.

So today i'm making a few things using my 3D printer, so I thought i'd try and show you how I go about designing and making 3D printed parts. I have had a few people ask me about the process. I have absolutely zero design expertise. I'm an engineer/software chap by trade so all of this is self taught and I just use the iterative "design - test - Tweak" method, which is perfect for the 3D print process. Season two and a new RV adventure begins! Overnight temps are dropping below zero so we MUST move the RV south. We say goodbye to African Queen IV for a few weeks while Genco finishes the winter cover, and head to Tennessee. Just far enough South to prevent the pipes from freezing, but close enough to make it back in one day to install the cover when it's ready. While staying at Over-Nighter RV Park, we find a few fun things to do in the area.
